Burgers, frozen custards and chicken are the specialties at the newly opened eatery Chiquito & Co located in Fitzroy. Were they busy? Yes. Were they welcoming? Definitely yes. Did the place smell amazing? Yes, Yes, YES!
Misty’s Diner, Prahan
American food has been getting more and more popular in Australia but there is an eatery that has been around for quite some time, Misty’s Diner. This is an American diner where the drinkies are American, the food is what you would find in a diner and the atmosphere, boy the atmosphere is uplifting, fun and buzzing.
Belle’s Hot Chicken, Fitzroy
It was time to catch up with the baby cousins and we were wondering the streets looking for a great feed. We chanced upon Belle’s Hot Chicken and since the group comprised mostly of teenage boys, we were sure that this will satisfy them. We walked in at 8PM with a group of 9 and they didn’t have space, asking us to come back in 15mins so they can set up. Again we wondered the streets and 15minutes later, we high tailed it back and sat our tooshies down.
TGI Fridays Fingerlicking Feast, Melbourne (Melbourne Central)
TGI Fridays is the feeling you associate when the work week is ending and the weekend is starting. So when you need a little Friday in your life, TGI Fridays is the place to go. They are now showcasing burgers and chicken wings to trial new flavours and guess what? We get to vote and decide.
Father’s Office, Melbourne
The work squad decided to have a day out where we were going to finally pop their exitus cherry. What do we need to do before we start trying to escape? Eat of course! I booked Father’s Office because of three reasons: 1. Miss Mousey has been and loved it, 2. It was right next door to exitus and 3. We could get 25% off using the Entertainment Book.
Little Oscar, Brunswick East
The newest bad boys in town – Little Oscar and they’re doing korean influenced american burgers (what??!!) and have been opened for 2 months (still babies!) in Brunswick. We were greeted very warmly by the staff and was shown to our table. They had a lot going on with ropes being part of the decor which I thought was pretty cool. They also have a live DJ and music so you know this place will be pumping!
Nieuw Amsterdam, Melbourne
So it’s date night again (I’m always finding excuses to have date night) and Mr D took me to Nieuw Amsterdam (SURPRISE!!). We got lost getting there because he refused to tell me where we were going so I couldn’t help him. When we eventually got there, I was ecstatic. I was a bit confused since there were stairs going up and down and no signs to which one we should take. I went down and BAM hit the bar. This mean the eatery was upstairs (damn!).
Big Boy BBQ, Melbourne
Decided to finally go to Big Boy BBQ as I’ve heard lots of people raving on about it. Entered the little shop and it was such a boy’s place to dine. Sauces on the table, large plastic red cups and american slow cooked meats with unlimited soft drinks refill!! We couldn’t decide what to get so we finally decided to get the little boy platter to share amongst three (I’ve got a teeny tiny stomach and there was too much meat)! So on the platter we got the pulled lamb shoulder, saucy beef brisket and ½ lamb ribs! When it came out and was huge!! However, I found it to be a tad salty and it wasn’t really my cup of tea.
