The meat and wine co is known for their well, meats and wines and have multiple locations throughout Victoria and New South Wales, they are still going strong. So when I heard that they’re opening one in South Yarra, it wasn’t a surprise since South Yarra was pumping with eateries and shops already and it would be a great addition to the area. The Meat & Wine Co is located in the Como Centre and there were two entrances, one on the outside and on the inside.
Before we even walked inside, we could hear drums drumming and popping music and we found out why once we stepped inside. The entertainment had awesome drumming skills and there was an African vibe to the night. The boys were rocking it!
There was Moet flowing which meant it’s pretty special. We grabbed ourselves a few glasses and roamed around the venue checking out the decor.
Whilst checking out the venue, little canapes were circling the room. We snagged a piece and it was the beetroot salad which consists of sous-vide beetroot, whipped goat’s curd with quinoa crisp and wild garlic oil. I”m no a fan of goat’s curd but everything else was lovely. It was quite tangy and fresh at the same time. Definitely a must try if you’re into your salads.
Next dish to come around were seared scallops with pea puree and spicy piri piri vinaigrette. This was a touch spicy but the scallops, my gosh it was so plump and juicy. LOVE LOVE LOVE this!!
Piri Piri Scallops
Next up was the lamb ribs which were char-grilled with a lemon, herb and mustard marinade. I’m not a huge lamb fan because I don’t really like the lamb-y smell. However, this didn’t have a strong lamb-y smell and it was so tender that it literally fell off the rib. Miss Food Hoarder thought it was AMAZEBALL and sneaked another one into her mouth.
Finally, a piece of the steak came out (I think it was the rump?) with charred corn on it. Now, this was cooked medium-rare and it was cooked to perfection. it was so juicy and oh so FABULOUS that it just melts in my mouth. The corn gave it a wow flavour and I just had to go back and grab some more.
The Meat & Wine Co are known for their steaks and you can see why. The steaks are beautifully cooked and they have a range of things on offer. The venue at South Yarra is chic and beautifully designed. The staff were friendly and I can’t wait to come back with Mr D with some steaks!
