Mr D had some places bookmarked for my birthday food adventure and the first stop was lunch at Belleville (which I’ve heard good things about). Located in an alley in Chinatown, you can see the signage outside which was super duper bright.
It was super early for lunch but we like having quiet lunches and it didn’t bother us too much (private date woohoo!). Since it was a tad hot, we both decided to get some drinkies. I got the Kelly Bros Cider which was refreshing and I did not share at all (MINEEE!). Mr D got the Chinatown Gold and said it was very ‘meh’.
Look how cute the mugs are!!
We ordered the half chicken with mild house chicken gravy. The chicken was juicy and seasoned nicely but I found the gravy to be a bit bland which was quite disappointing.
Half Chicken With Mild House Chicken Gravy – $17
For sides, Mr D picked the belleville poutine because it has CHEESE (it was my birthday YO). This was AWESOME SAUCE! It was quite spicy due to the hot sauce but no worries, I got my cider yo! This was oh so delish!! I wish I could swim in it *drools*.
Belleville Poutine – $10
Finally, I couldn’t leave any place without trying dessert despite how full I was (dessert tummy swap over NOW). I got the nutella peanut choc bomb with berry coulis because who can say no to nutella? They came out in the bamboo steamers (so adorable!) and looked quite pretty (as pretty as fried balls could be). These were like little bombs of heaven! God, they were AMAZEBALL!
Nutella Peanut Choc Bomb with Berry Coulis – $8
It’s a hip and happening place (gosh, did I just use hip and happening?) with pretty good food – especially the POUTINE. However, next time I might try out the fried chicken and waffle since I’ve heard good things about them.
