QLD: The Bush Inn Bar & Grill Steak House, Rockhampton

On our last night in Rocky with Baby A, we all let him pick our last dinner together. After a quick search through Zomato, Baby A decided on The Bush Inn Bar & Grill, located right next to the Criterion Hotel and of course, right in the CBD. There’s plenty of parking around so don’t worry your pretty heads with parking.

We entered the eatery and you just pop your tooshie down anywhere. Inside, the decor is so cool, country like with lots of random things which just makes you smile. Ordering and paying is all done at the counter first and then you’ll get your food served to you.

For starters, Baby A has read that half criterion fries were to die for and all those rumours were true. If you love everything and anything cheesy, this will totally cheesify you. It was sweet, it was savoury, it was crunchy and with a touch of flavouring, this was AMAZEBALL! I could have had this for dinner if no one stopped me. Definitely the highlight at the eatery.

Half Criterion Fries – $10
Chunky chips, bacon, onion & our secret sauce. Not for the faint hearted or diet conscious.

Now most of mains will either come with chippies and coleslaw or roasted veggies so make sure you have tummy space because these portions are GINORMOUS! I got the lasagne lorraine and it was pretty darn good. Although I did find that there wasn’t bechamel sauce which was a touch disappointing. Other then that, everything was on point. The chippies were super duper crunchy and oh so delish! The coleslaw on the other hand, weren’t all that great but who cares when you have great chippies.

Lasagne Lorraine – $16
100% beef made on the premises we can promise you need to be hungry to finish it

Mumsy bear got herself the sweet lip and was pancooked with capers butter. She absolutely adored this. The fish was fish of the day (I forgotten what it was) and it was super fresh.

Sweet Lip – $28
Delightfully textured, reef fish either pan cooked with capers butter or freshly panko crumbed

Baby A and daddy bear got the full ribs and rump to share and the rump was cooked medium rare. The full ribs were smothered in the delicious sauce and was so tender. The rump was cooked perfectly and melted in Baby A’s mouth. This was the beef capital of Australia so we did have high expectations. The roast veggies were absolutely AMAZEBALL. I have no idea what they seasoned the veggies with but whatever it is, gimme gimme gimme!

Full Ribs and Rump – $45
Full rack kof pork ribs plus 250 gm rump. For the really serious meat eater

The bush inn bar & grill steak house had a very casual atmosphere and the staff were quite attentive and made sure you enjoyed your meal and that everything was top notch. The portions were huge and if you drop by to eat just one thing, make sure it’s the Criterion Fries.
