The Hof Downtown, Docklands

The old work lunch group decided it was time to catch up and since we love trying out different cuisines, we landed on The Hof Downtown for some German food. It was super duper busy with so many people having after work drinkies so be ready for some noise. We made a booking but got there 10 minutes late due to traffic and when we got there and apologised, one of the staff turned to me and tapped his watch and asked if we knew what time it was. I was in shock because he was not kidding around but just stared at us for quite some time (quite rude!). We brushed this off and continued to our table and went through the menu to order.

Zonzo Estate, Yarra Glen

The stooges were due for a catch up so we decided to visit Zonzo since well, we all love the yarra valley and we love our wines. We booked Zonzo a few weeks in advance and even then we were lucky to get a spot as it was super duper packed on the day. Also an FYI, you need to place a $50 non-refundable deposit to hold a reservation so be prepared for that. Anywho, the place is beautiful surrounded by a vineyard and just breathtaking scenery like everywhere else in the winery. When we arrived we were seated on a long communal table (yes, nearly all the tables were communal which was very community like which was nice) and started our ordering spree.

Akachochin, South Wharf

The girlies at my old work place wanted to do a catch up and thanks to Miss Butterfree being quite financially savvy, she suggested Akachochin since Dimmi had a promotion of 50% off food. We made a booking and turned up on the night. However, once we were inside, no one was at the front to attend to us and we stood there for a good 10 minutes until a staff finally spotted us and showed us to our table.

Positano, Hallam

One of the ladies in my work team has been there for 10 years so we celebrated by going out for lunch with her choice of restaurant of course. We went to Positano where there were ample of parking and there weren’t a lot of customers inside but it was a 42degrees day on a friday lunch so that was understandable. The staff were super duper friendly and quite attentive and when we sat down, we put our ordering hat on and raced through our order.

Yokocho, Melbourne

There’s a new Japanese eatery in town right in the middle of the CBD and looks over Bourke Street called Yokocho which wants to take diners away from the hustle and bustle of the city and into the “alleyways” which Japanese hard-working citizens seek refuge in a quiet eatery. Yokocho is a little bit hidden away where you need to go up the escalators in the Mid City Arcade. Yokocho isn’t quiet at all and buzzing with noise so you’ll definitely hear it whilst going up the escalators. Going through the doors, you can walk straight through to the rooftop and boy, was it perfect weather for some cocktails.

48h Pizza & Gnocchi Bar, Elsternwick

When I hear Italian food I immediately think of pizzas, pastas, comfort food and basically awesome sauce food. So when I heard about 48h Pizza and Gnocchi Bar has opened in Elsternwick, I was oh so pumped to check them out. Located right next to the train station, it was easy to get to with loads of parking along the side streets. Walking into the eatery, you get a sensory overload and there is so many things going on whilst the lovely staff greets you, you just stumble along to your table.

Vanilla, Oakleigh

With having a new job near Christmas means Christmas lunches are due and our lunch was at Vanilla in Oakleigh. On a Tuesday lunch, my gosh, finding parking was hectic so I’d recommend you park where Coles is. Now, back to the restaurant, it was buzzing like mad and there were so many people and so many things going on. Vanilla is a ginormous restaurant with a lounge downstairs and a restaurant upstairs. Once you walk in, you’ll be greeted with the sweets cabinet by the counter.

Aussie Steak ‘n’ Burger, Docklands

My old work lunch gang wanted to do an outing and of course our outing involves FOOD! Mr Tequila chose Aussie Steak n Burger in Docklands since we had the Entertainment Book discount as well. Located near the pier, there were plenty of parking on the street on a weeknight after 6PM and of course it was FREE! We made a booking and when we got there, we were greeted by the friendly staff. We took our seats and began to look over the menu while our grumbling tummies sang to each other.

Coombe Melba Estate, Coldstream

The stooges were sleeping over and of course we had to brunch in the Yarra Valley or Coldstream. I made a booking for Coombe, the Melba Estate and  boy, was it beautiful. We got into the carpark and Coombe was hidden away behind these huge hedges. Once you step through the hedges, it was MAGNIFICENT! It was serene, it was gorgeous and best of all, it was classy!
