Steer Dining Room. Having visited before for my birthday, I definitely wanted to take Mr D for his birthday because he’s a massive steak fan. I made sure to make a reservation in advance because it does get super busy. Walking in, you’re greeted by friendly staff surrounded by a great ambiance. We were seated in the corner and BAM the staff will bring around the steak board where they show you the different types of steaks with various levels of marbling that you can choose for the night.
It wouldn’t be a birthday if cocktails weren’t involved!
The complimentary fresh bread was effing AMAZEBALLS! It was soft and fluffy and that butter, DAYUMM!
I’m a fan of liver parfait and unfortunately it wasn’t my cup of tea. The parfait overall was quite hard and it had an aftertaste which I wasn’t a fan of. I wouldn’t recommend this dish.
Duck Liver Parfait – $23
Duck & Pistachio Terrine Toasted Brioche
The kingfish ceviche was fresh and fragrant.
Kingfish Ceviche – $25
Fennel, Leek, Tiger’s Milk
Now, the tataki was bloody fantastic! We got the sher F1 tenderloin and holy moly it melted in our mouths. Beautifully sliced and you can see the marbling of the meat, it was definitely good quality. The ponzu broth and wasabi gave it a kick.
Sher F1 Tenderloin – $25
Served with pickled veggies, ginger ponzu broth & fresh Tasmanian wasabi
The pork belly caught our eyes on the menu and so we were super excited to check it out. The pork belly was quite dry and flavourless. Unfortunately, another dish we wouldn’t recommend.
Pork Belly – $42
Now for the main reason why we came here, them juicy juicy steaks. We got the Sher Full Blood Wagyu to share and holy moly the fat content was magnificent. The steak melted in our mouths and our knives cut through it like we were slicing butter. Due to the high marbling content, we recommend sharing this.
Sher Full Blood Wagyu – $109
Porterhouse 9 (300g)
The night ended with complimentary brownies and they were super chocolately and oh so rich. Mr D’s face lit up when he took a bite out of it.
Steer Dining Room definitely knows how to serve a perfect steak. Serving great quality meats and with different cuts and marbling to suit whatever budget. We will definitely be back and if you have the Entertainment Book, you’ll get $60 off (BARGAIN!).
