Blackwork, Croydon

Since having moved to Croydon I haven’t really checked out the local scene so when Mr D suggested to have a brunch date, I surely had to agree. Wondering around, we decided to check out Blackwork. Blackwork looks like it could be a cafe in the city with it’s chic interior, Proud Mary coffee and uber cool menu. There’s ample of parking across the road and it does get quite busy on a weekend so make sure you get in early.

The latte here is AH-MA-ZING! What do you expect when the Proud Mary coffee is in the house!

Mr D got the breakfast dog an oh my holy gosh, it was AMAZEBALLS! Sprinkled with bacon crumb and cheddar and served with chipotle aioli. It was like heaven in my mouth, a very savoury and flavoursome heaven!

Breakfast Hotdog – $20
Sausage, caramelised onion, sauerkraut, cheddar, bacon crumb, chipotle aioli & potato salad

I got the roasted sesame pea crush with smoked salmon and boy I felt super healthy eating it. It was very light but it needed a bit more zing to the dish.

Roasted Sesame Pea Crush – $19
Smoked Salmon, sourdough, poached egg, nori hollandaise

To finish off brunch I got a portuguese tart after seeing a review saying that we have to try it. However, I did and I was quite disappointed. It was very dense, the tart base wasn’t crumbly and was quite thick and the taste wasn;t there.

Blackwork is an awesome hidden gem and we will definitely be back to have brunch. That breakfast hotdog is the BOMB and if you do come here, definitely get it.

  1. Hi Linne, a couple of my clients recommended this cafe to me – now after reading your blog I must go!!! What time are they open until on a Sunday?

    1. Hi Jill,

Definitely give this cafe a visit. It’s our local cafe and it’s definitely worth it. They’re open until 4PM every day! Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
