UK: Wheatsheaf, Borough Market (London)

Mr D and I needed breakfast before we headed around London to do touristy stuff (I LOVES THEM TOURISTY THINGS!!) and walked into Wheatsheaf at the Borough’s Market. As we were in London, I’d only let Mr D have pub food so this ticked the box. It was really casual with awesome decor and I was super excited.

So we had to fill in the form with what we want, hand it to the counter and pay for it. In exchange you get a number on a cute little hat (you don’t really have to wear it….i asked hohoho).

However, this was where things went downhill for me. I got my latte but poor Mr D didn’t get his and they forgot (yes, FORGOT!) his and he had to remind them 20mins later!

The food came out 40 minutes later and we were getting fed up since we were super hungry already. No one came over to let us know what was going on or that our food will take a while. Nothing at all. When it did finally come out, it was disappointing. I had syrupy eggy bread since I wanted sweets. The bacon was pretty good I must admit but there was hardly any syrup at all. They should just call it Eggy Bread instead.

Syrupy Eggy Bread – 5£

Mr D got the Fry-up for Champs since it said it was huge and it wasn’t at all. Mr D finished it within 5 minutes and was still hungry. He only enjoyed the bacon and found that the baked beans kind of tasted like canned beans.

Fry-up for Champs – 9£

We did complain about the time it took to get the food and they gave us tea and coffee on the house to apologise which was nice.

Wheatsheaf is a cool looking place, perfect for a drink but not so perfect for breakfast. The service was slow, the food wasn’t great but the staff were super friendly. Sorry Wheatsheaf, I’ll have to try out other places at Borough’s Market if I ever return to London.
