Dinner date with my friend and since Melbourne was a tad cold, we decided to go to our local joint, Chef Lagenda at Deer Park for some Malaysian food.
We got there at 6:30PM and was quite full but managed to get a seat straight away (SCORE!!).
It was quite smokey when we got in but we just soldiered on. We got a plain roti to share with curry sauce and satay sauce. The roti I found was pretty average. It didn’t really taste that cooked either….But the satay dipping sauce was YUMMO! I didn’t particularly enjoy the curry sauce, didn’t really match well with the Roti.
Plain Roti with Curry or Satay Sauce – $5.50
We both got the curry laksa which came with shrimp, chicken and fish cake. It came with both vermicelli and hokkein noodles. The chicken wasn’t dry at all and was super YUMMO and the laksa was filled with coconut! So creamy and full of flavour. They didn’t skimp on the meat either, so much noodles and meat (WOOHOOO!!! SCORE!!).
Curry Laksa – $9.50
Finally, I got the milo red milk tea with jelly. Didn’t enjoy milo in this at all, wish I went for the taro milk tea which is what I usually get…DAMN ME FOR TRYING NEW THINGS (raises fist in the air)!
Milo Red Milk Tea (Large) – $4.50
Chef Lagenda is a pretty neat Malaysian place if you’re hanging for some laksa. Quick service, friendly staff, cheap food but be warned, it gets super busy so be prepared to wait a while for a seat as it gets filled up quickly by 7PM.
