What do you do when you’re in Adelaide for work and hear that the first Hello Kitty Cafe in Australia is in Adelaide? Go to the Hello Kitty Cafe alone is what you do! This cafe is located in Chinatown (Yep, I ended up in Chinatown…) and it closes really late. When I turned up, the surrounding shops were closed except for Gong Cha and Hello Kitty. I walked in and it wasn’t as busy as I thought it would be though.
SA: Rigoni’s Bistro, Adelaide
Work trip again (wooohoo!) and I had to find somewhere to dine alone…I walked up and down and found this cute italian bistro called Rigoni’s Bistro and they have won many awards including best informal dining in SA . It looked so cute and welcoming so of course I walked in.
Dumplings Plus, Maribyrnong (Highpoint Shopping Centre)
Caught up with Mr Burberry for dinner at Dumplings Plus at Highpoint since we couldn’t figure out where to go. It was cheap, quick and the wait staff were friendly enough. We got a table for two and got ourselves so much food!! First up, steamed Shanghai Pork Dumplings (or as we all know…XIAO LONG BAOOOOO!!!). They were GINORMOUS!! It was juicy and quenched my xiao long bao thirst!
Jinda Thai Restaurant, Abbotsford
Catch up with the girlies and this time we decided on Jinda Thai since one of the girls wanted to give it a go. We had to book it one week in advance on for a Wednesday night at 7PM. I turned up and it was of course raining (gees, thanks winter Melbourne) and Miss Panda and I rushed in while waiting for Miss Train (a story from Malaysia!).
Mamasita, Melbourne
It was a catch up with my two stooges and we decided to try out Mamasita (been hanging to come here FOREVER!). Since there were three of us, we couldn’t make a booking for a Thursday night, they only do lunchtime bookings or for dinners has to be a table for 8-10 people (sure we can try to eat for 8 people but we were not going to be able to leave the place if we tried…). So the rule was whoever finished work goes in first to bag a seating. Turns out I was the first one there at 6:30PM and headed upstairs (I did miss it, very inconspicuous).
Tacos? Tequila? YES PLEASE!
Totally missed this door…
