Hellenic Republic, Brunswick

I was in charge of organising dinner for work and lucky me, I got to pick the place. After hours of running around, a work colleague suggested Hellenic Republic (it was closer to his house) and I realised that this place has been on my to go list since FOREVER! Why does this name ring a bell you say? That’s because it’s one of George Calombaris’ (yep, that guy from masterchef) restaurant. Luckily, I was able to make a reservation for 18 people on a Saturday night at one weeks notice. Anywho, there was a 2 hours time limit but that didn’t deter me at all.

Doughboys Doughnuts, Melbourne

The babies introduced me to Doughboys Doughnuts a year ago, when they had a little pop up store and you had to follow them on instagram to figure out their current location. The first time I had the apple crumble and the taste still lingers on a year later. So, when I had a chance to do training in the city, I rushed over to Doughboys (now permanent shop) at lunchtime since they only open on weekdays from 7AM – 4PM. I ran inside and was hit in the face with the smell of freshly baked doughnuts. There were currently 3 flavours today – blackberry buttermilk, apple cider and key lime pie.

Kyoto Cafe, Ringwood (Eastland Shopping Centre)

Shopping around Eastland with Mr D and his nephews and I needed my sugar fix. We dropped by Kyoto Cafe because he had heard it was pretty delish so in we went. We were immediately attended to and was shown to our seat by the friendly and polite staff. I decided to go all matcha and got the matcha opera which was their signature cake.

If you love matcha, you’ll definitely will ADORE this little sweetness heaven. It was soft, it was moist, it was super duper matcha-filled! Mr D wasn’t a big fan but that’s because he don’t love matcha yo!

Rudimentary, Footscray

Brunch time with my girlies and Mr Burberry and we wanted to go somewhere local on a Sunday morning and settled on Rudimentary. Rudimentary is unique in that it’s in a shipping container (sayyyy whhhhat???) which means it can be picked up and moved anywhere! The outdoor section is really spacious and very cute, little kids running around and quite a few plants out and about. We got there at 10:30AM and had to wait for 1 hour (Oh em gee, I thought I was dying of starvation) and finally got a table for 5. The staff were super friendly and it was spacious on the inside. Order up guys!
