The babies introduced me to Doughboys Doughnuts a year ago, when they had a little pop up store and you had to follow them on instagram to figure out their current location. The first time I had the apple crumble and the taste still lingers on a year later. So, when I had a chance to do training in the city, I rushed over to Doughboys (now permanent shop) at lunchtime since they only open on weekdays from 7AM – 4PM. I ran inside and was hit in the face with the smell of freshly baked doughnuts. There were currently 3 flavours today – blackberry buttermilk, apple cider and key lime pie.
None of the flavours tickled my fancy but I couldn’t leave without getting anything. Whilst, standing there choosing my flavour, a batch of peanut butter butterscotch (at least that’s what I think it was). The flavour was YUMMILICIOUS! You could taste the peanut butter AND the butter scotch. The only thing that disappointing was the doughnuts. They were GINORMOUS don’t get me wrong, they just weren’t as fluffy as I remembered them to be.
Doughboys know what they’re doing with their doughnuts and perhaps the one I got was a one off. I’ll definitely come back and hopefully, the apple crumble will be back.
