Steer Dining Room. Having visited before for my birthday, I definitely wanted to take Mr D for his birthday because he’s a massive steak fan. I made sure to make a reservation in advance because it does get super busy. Walking in, you’re greeted by friendly staff surrounded by a great ambiance. We were seated in the corner and BAM the staff will bring around the steak board where they show you the different types of steaks with various levels of marbling that you can choose for the night.
Matilda 159 Domain, South Yarra
It was my big 3-0 and
Natural History Bar & Grill, Melbourne
If you love museums and steaks, the have I got a place for you. Natural History Bar & Grill, located on Collins Street serves heaps of dishes from the grill with an extensive and impressive bar. However, be ready for stuffed animals looking at you through the glass windows because yep, it’s like you’re at the Natural History Museum (well I’d assume so since I haven’t been yet but watching movies I’d say that’s pretty spot on!). Anywho, the atmosphere is very casual with very friendly staff so no need for any fancy pants here!
Yarra Flats Baking Co., Yarra Glen
On the way to the chocolaterie in Yarra Valley, we realised that we hadn’t had lunch yet so luckily for us, we turned into a shopping strip and eye a bakery, Yarra Flats Baking Co. bakery to be exact. A humble bakery that serves pies, sausage rolls, toasties and of course desserts and pastries by friendly staff! It’s located right next to the carpark so don’t stress about parking either.
San Telmo, Melbourne
When I had a taste of South American food, I knew that I had to check out the Argentinian restaurant San Telmo. Seeing as we would be having steak, I definitely hit up a steak loving friend and dropped by on a Wednesday night. We made a booking online and depending on what day you go, you may need to put in your credit card details to secure your booking. Oh, it does get busy so do make sure you make a booking. Now, back to the restaurant, located in an alleyway and opposite to a car park (park there for convenience guys!), you won’t miss the restaurant due to its big sign in front.
Patuso, Melbourne
Patuso has been on my list for a while and when the girlies (and panda) wanted to catch up, of course I suggested Patuso so I could finally check it out. When booking online, they will ask for your credit card so if you cancel within 48 hours, they will charge your credit card. Now, back to the restaurant, it’s located at the end of the alleyway so don’t fret if Google Maps takes you down a dark graffiti-ed alleyway. At the very end sits Patuso with it’s bright yellow sign and when you step inside, it’s loud, it’s homely and it’s just so welcoming.
White Mojo Plus+, Glen Waverly
We’ve been to White Mojo in Balwyn and know what kind of quality brunch they served up so Mr D was super duper excited to head to White Mojo Plus+ located in Glen Waverly for lunch with the girlies (yep! The girlies)! On a weekday for lunch, it wasn’t too busy (guess it gets super busy on the weekends though) so it was real easy to get a table. The grilled chicken was very generous sizing and it was super duper filling (score for those who’s always worried about not getting full!). It was super duper tasty and oh so delish!
Grilled Chicken Salad – $19.50
Grilled chicken thigh, pearl cous cous, roasted pumpkin & cauliflower, kale, feta, cumin yoghurt & pomegranate vinaigrette
The Views Restaurant, Halls Gap
We were in the Grampians for Ms Teeth’s birthday but we didn’t realise that we needed a booking to get into some of the restaurants. Luckily for us, there was another place 5 mins away called The Views so we dropped by for some dinner. Located in The Grampian motel, the staff were oh so friendly that we couldn’t help but smile as soon as we entered.
NSW: Mustang Spur Steak Ranch, Campbelltown
One of my new workmates that had just started was so ecstatic when we walked past Spurs because it reminded him of back home in South Africa. So of course, we went inside to relive his childhood. It’s a mexican / steak joint that has the same atmosphere as TGI Friday’s, well that’s how I would compare it with. We walked in and was seated and our orders were taken immediately. However, that was where the great experience ended for us.
Anglers Tavern, Maribyrnong
Angler’s Tavern is a pub located on the Maribrynong river in Melbourne’s West had a makeover and my work decided to have a function there (woohoo!). The big boss got the private room with the three course meal which was pretty fancyyyy. The view was fantabulous (well, as fantabulous as the Maribyrnong could be) and the staff were awesomely friendly.
