Sakura Kaiten Sushi, Melbourne

Dinner with Miss Pandan and it was her turn to choose and of course it was Japanese, more specifically, sushi train. We went to her favourite sushi train place, Sakura Kaiten Sushi on Collin Street and yes, there is a second one but Miss Train was adamant that we only go to the original one. She also warned me that it’ll be super busy so we got there just before it opened and there were already people waiting outside. Once the doors opened, we were all seated and the train started moving.

Young and Foolish, Wheelers Hill

It was Ms Curly Fries last day at work and we headed over to Young and Foolish for a goodbye lunch. It was a nice little cafe, convenient and we got the private area out back which was quite intimate and secluded. The staff were super friendly, accommodating and very patient considering that there were 12 of us there. They got our orders quick smart and we didn’t wait long till our food came out.

Club Colombia Cafe, Melbourne

Since visiting South America, I’ve grown to South American cuisines and when I heard there’s a Colombian restaurant in town, it was definitely on my list to go to because I’ve never had Colombian food before. Located in the CBD and having only opened for 3 months or so sits Club Colombia. It doesn’t look much from the outside but once you step inside, it was vibrant, it was friendly and with super friendly and welcoming staff.

Darling Street Espresso, Moonee Ponds

Located next to a school sits a little cafe on the corner called Darling St Espresso. There’s ample of parking so you shouldn’t fret if you drop by here. Outside it looks quite ordinary but inside it’s real cosy with friendly staff. Walking in we could smell freshly made coffee and it smells so damn good.

Anada, Fitzroy

A tradition has started for us where I would take mumsy and daddy bear out to try a different cuisine for their anniversary or even just a night out. They’ve never tried Spanish food so I decided to check out Anada in Fitzroy. We made a reservation online and we were seated at the table by the front door.

Black Waffle, Northcote

Anytime is ice cream time and when the girlies suggested we check out Black Waffle. What we didn’t know was that it serves up vegan ice cream. Now, usually we run from the hills when something is vegan because I adore my dairy despite being lactose intolerant. BUT when the girlies said it’s pretty darn good, I had to check it out myself.

Lanzhou Beef Noodle Bar, Glen Waverley

Shopping can get tiring and when you’re not a huge a shopper, you get hungrier quicker than usual (yep, that’s me!). Mr D and I headed towards the food court and I’m a bit of a snob and didn’t really want food court food but something in the corner caught my eye – Lanzhou Beef Noodle Bar. We didn’t think much of it so we shrugged our shoulders and walked straight in.

XS Roasting Kitchen, Mulgrave

Another work day another lunch place to check out and this time it was XS roasting kitchen. It was a quick lunch so we browsed the cabinet for some goodies instead of having a sit down meal prepared for us. The staff were friendly and it wasn’t super busy which was a surprise. There were plenty of seats inside and out, so depending on the weather there’s plenty of seating options.

I got a zaatar with salami, feta and tomatoes and it was pretty good. It was a touch on the salty side and I think (I forgot to take note of the price) it was $10 which is a bit on the expensive side.

XS Roasting Kitchen is a cute place for a quick lunch and I would love to come back and check out the rest of the menu.
