Flemington, known for the Melbourne Cup and being super close to Melbourne Zoo, they’re also popping up as a great foodie area too. Pacinos, an Italian family restaurant, known for their pizzas and friendly service is located smack bang in the middle the busy road Epsom Road. Mumsy bear and daddy bear were excited to not have to travel far in the search for a good feed. Plenty of parking in front of the venue and if it’s full, there’s a shopping centre with more parking. The venue is very spacious and feels very homely and cosy. The staff were super attentive and will immediately make you feel welcome once you step your foot in the door.
We got some drinkies to start off the night with daddy bear getting the birra moretti and it’s a very light and refreshing Italian beer.
Meatlovers, the meatballs were GINORMOUS and bursting with flavour. The only downside was that it was a touch dry.
Meatballs – $18
Italian style meatballs with homemade fruit chutney
Moving onto the pizza, the chorizo was jammed packed with chorizo, olives and you guessed it, cheeeeeeese! With a thin base that ticked mumsy bear’s boxes and the decent amount of toppings for daddy bear, they were loving it. However, we did find it a touch on the salty side.
Chorizo (medium) – $18
Tomato, mozzarella, chorizo, olives, caramelized onion, rocket & feta
The staff suggested the linguini marinara and we couldn’t go against any recommendations. There was a generous amount of seafood in the dish ranging from prawns to mussels and even pieces of white fish. We found that the dish needed a bit more seasoning and it was a touch on the oily side.
Linguini Marinara – $29
Fresh seafood, butter, white wine, garlic & parsley
We couldn’t leave the restaurant without having dessert and when I saw homemade chocolate mousse, I could not resist. This was so chocolatey but not too sweet, it was smooth with no grains present at all and it was super-rich. We all absolutely adored this mousse. However, it was a touch dense and it didn’t have the light and fluffiness of the mousse texture.
Homemade Chocolate Mousse -$9.90
Pacinos is a great place if you don’t want to travel to Lygon street for some Italian food. The prices are decent, staff were attentive, service was quick with decent food, it’s a great place to catch up over a casual lunch or dinner with friends and family.
