Whenever I have Xiao Long Bao cravings I always head to Forest Hill. However, I found out that there’s a new dumpling place in Eastland that also serves XLB AND it’s closer to home. So I convinced (by convinced I kinda made him) Mr D to take me on a dumpling date. It’s located near the cinemas and right opposite to Gami and there were plenty of seats (I guess it’s because we went in midday in the middle of the week). The ordering process is so easy, there’s a clipboard on your table, you fill in what you want and BAM hand it over to the staff and they’ll bring the food out to you. So no required interaction at all.
The food came out quick snap and our dumpling cravings were getting satisfied. First up was the chili wonton and they weren’t spicy at all which is a shame. The wontons themselves were juicy and GINORMOUS and we definitely enjoyed them.
Chili Wonton (8pc) – $11.60
The dumplings which we came for, the XLB! They were average priced and they were delish! It was not too doughy, it was super juicy and the pork meat was oh so succulent. It was, you got it, TOTES AMAZEBALLS!
Xiao Long Bao (8pc) – $11.90
Mr D got the Chef’s special fried noodles and they didn’t looked that fried BUT the flavour was delish! It was light, it wasn’t too oily and it had the right balance of savoury and sweetness.
Chef Special Fried Noodles – $15.80
Block 7 Dumplings has great XLB and wonton dumplings if you don’t want to travel into the city and the prices are what you would find at good dumpling places and aren’t overly expensive. We will definitely be back if I’m ever in need of a XLB fix.
