Before I started my new job, I thought I’ll take mumsy bear out for a brunch date since we never really do that often. I thought I should take her to Yarraville since that’s where all the cool kids were at. We got to The Corner Shop and she absolutely loved it. The staff were friendly, the decor was just very Melburnian and she felt oh so comfy in there which was the most important part. We were seated and was handed a menu to have a flick through to decide what we were going to devour!

I got a chai latte and this was MAGNIFICENT! It was smooth, creamy and came with a pot of honey just the way I like it!

Chai Latte – $5

Mumsy bear got a cappuccino and boy was she impressed. She absolutely adored the coffee here and was in her element. She couldn’t stop smiling from the amazeball coffee.

Cappuccino – $4

Since I was still trying to be meat free, I got the zucchini and mint fritters. this was just AWESOME SAUCE. I absolutely loved these little fritters and boy were they filling. They were bursting full of flavour and everything  just complimented everything else. A recommended dish if you do end up coming here for brunch.

Mumsy bear got the coconut poached chicken salad and found it quite sour due to the dressing. It was way too intense that she had to take everything out of the plate onto another plate to remove the dressing. The chicken was cooked perfectly with so much flavour. This could have been an amazing dish if they had just tone down the lime in the dressing which was a tad disappointing.

The cornershop is just the cutest place ever and made my mumsy bear’s brunch date fantabulous. The zucchini fritters are to die for and the coffee, all you coffee addicts need to try this place out for their amazing coffees. The poached chicken salad was a touch disappointing but we will come back to try the rest of the menu.
