Last day of training and the clock strikes 12 and BOOM, lunchtime again. Whilst in training, I bookmarked a cafe just around a corner which looked absolutely adorable – Back Pocket.
I walked in and was welcomed immediately (cheered me up on this gloomy Melbourne day). I was seated in the corner near the kitchen and knew exactly what I wanted, a chai latte to start off my meal (and warm up my belly). I LOVE the chai latte and I forgot to specify a small and got a regular mug instead. Luckily for me, I wasn’t charged anything extra (SCORE!). It was so smooth and creamy, just the way I like it.
Chai Latte
On this particular day, I’ve decided to get something hearty due to Melbourne’s crazy weather. I went for the spaghetti meatballs in a rich tomato sauce. When this dish came out, it looked absolutely divine. I loved everything about this dish, the colours, the flavours and the GINORMOUS meatballs! After chowing down on two of the meatballs, the third one was slightly pink. I’m not against pink veal, I’m just against inconsistency. If you want them to be pink, make sure all the meatballs were pinkish and not just the single one.
Spaghetti Meatballs
The staff were super duper attentive, understanding about my meatball fussiness, great chai latte and food. I’d definitely stop by again but I did find the food to be quite pricey for a cafe. This joint will be in my back pocket, saved for a rainy day.
