I’m a huge fan of anything french so when I heard that reknown celebrity chef Gontran Cherrier is opening up a boulangerie in Melbourne, boy was I super duper over the moon excited. What’s even better was that he was here to also promote his new opening (27th worldwide) right here in Melbourne.
Ministry of Cakes, Brunswick
After a day full of dress shopping, a cake cafe caught our eye – Ministry of cakes. So what else do the three stooges do? We enter and stuff our faces with cakes of course! We stepped inside and was surrounded by a beautiful smell of baked goodies. There were wedding cakes and novelty cakes on display and so we sat our tooshies down and looked over the menu.
Hell of the North, Fitzroy
It was Mother’s Day and since mumsy and daddy bear hasn’t had french before, I decided to take them on a little culinary adventure. I made a booking for the fam bam and we took a trip to Fitzroy behind the great yellow door to get to Hell of the North.
Brioche by Philip, Ringwood (Eastland Shopping Centre)
I was at Eastland Shopping Centre again and since it was brunch time and I was getting peckish. I’ve always walked past Brioche (located in the town square) and was always too full to get something. On this occasion, my tummy was empty and ready for whatever Brioche has in store for me.
The French Brassarie, Melbourne
Mr D decided to surprise me for my birthday dinner and since I LOVE LOVE LOOOOOVE french food, he took me to The French Brassarie (Yayers!!!), a hidden gem tucked away in Melbourne.
Laurent Boulangerie Patisserie, Melbourne
Wondering around in the city for date day, Mr D decided he needed coffee so we decided on Laurent since Mr D hasn’t been to the one in the city. After what feels like a gazillion years later, we finally found the building and it was GORGEOUS (shame I forgot to take a photo of it though). Mr D got an ice coffee since it was 31 degrees (summer has finally come) and as usual, he wasn’t impressed with it at all. He just shrugged and finished his drink.
Ice Coffee
FRANCE: La Regelade, Jean Moulin (Paris)
Mr D’s fam bam decided to take us to the Versaille, unfortunately there was a strike so we ended up turning the car around (took us ONE HOUR to get there….). Mr D’s fam bam decided to take us to a nice french restaurant for dinner so they called up and made a reservation and in we went. We were at La Regalade which is one of the many restaurants that Bruno Doucet has.
FRANCE: Pedra Alta, Pontault-Combault (Paris)
Mr D’s cousin took us out to a Portuguese restaurant for our last night in Paris. It was quite busy but luckily we managed to get a table.
Menu – how adorable!
FRANCE: La Tete A Toto, Paris
Miss Tour Guide and her hubby decided to take us out for some FRENCH food because you guessed it, we were in FRANCE! They took us to la tete a toto and the setting is a classroom in a school where the tables and chairs they used were what was used in a school (nerd alert!). It was super adorable as!!
FRANCE: Benoit, Paris
I’ve always wanted to go to a Michelin Starred restaurant and as we were in Paris, Mr D found one for me, Benoit. Benoit is a one starred restaurant is one of many restaurants by Alaine Ducasse. Mr D picked Benoit because it has been around for over 100 years and it was ADORABLE (that probably wasn’t a reason why Mr D picked it though…). He made a booking months prior via email and he had to confirm the booking 24 hours before our reservation.
