FRANCE: La Regelade, Jean Moulin (Paris)

Mr D’s fam  bam decided to take us to the Versaille, unfortunately there was a strike so we ended up turning the car around (took us ONE HOUR to get there….). Mr D’s fam bam decided to take us to a nice french restaurant for dinner so they called up and made a reservation and in we went. We were at La Regalade which is one of the many restaurants that Bruno Doucet has.

The inside was super cute and I noticed that a lot of the customers were older french locals and there wasn’t an english menu. I wasn’t fussed because it means the food was good and the wait staff were super friendly so between the staff and Mr D’s fam bam, the menu was verbally translated and we were able to order no problemo yo! Before our food came out, we were given home made bread with pate and pickles. It was soooo GOOD and I tried to control myself or else I wouldn’t be able to finish the 3 course meal.

First up was the entrees and I got the foie gras but little did I know that it came out in a little soupy thingy with eggs and mushrooms. To be honest, I didn’t really enjoy this dish.

Mr D got the squid ink risotto and it was ABSOLUTELY AMAZEBALL! I was so jealous and I wanted to trade but clearly he ignored me and devoured his dish. It was so perfectly balanced, not too salty, not too bland, it was PERFECT!

Mr D’s uncle got the scallops and it was divine. The scallops were so plump and fresh and it was so good. The flavours were very subtle, just the way I liked it.

Before the mains came out, we all were given a crab raviolli because the chef found out that we were from Australia and wanted to show us french cuisine. By golly, this one raviolli was GINORMOUS and it was AMAZEBALL! I wished I had more but I couldn’t be greedy now.

The mains came out and I got the fish. It was pretty damn good. I’m not usually a fish person and I wanted something super light and Mr D’s aunty suggested the cod with risotto and it was such a good recommendation.

Mr D got the beef with baby carrots and he said it was super tender and so soft to slice. The sauce was amazing but it was HUGE!

Mr D’s aunty got the crackling pork and the pork was so YUMMO! I declined for the crackling skin since I don’t really eat it but the consensus, IT WAS AMAZEBALL!

Finally, dessert came out! Mr D’s uncle got the signature Grand Marnier souffle and it was GINORMOUS (Who would even be able to finish that?? SERIOUSLY!!). I had a bit of it and it was AWESOME!! It was light and fluffly, there wasn’t a strong eggy taste and it was FABULOUS!

I got the signature rice pudding with caramel sauce (I gotta get the signature dishes you know bro?) and it didn’t DISAPPOINT! I tried it first without the caramel sauce and it was great, with the caramel sauce, it was MOUTH-WATERINGLY AWESOMEEE! Gosh, I wished I wasn’t so full so I could finish it!

Finally, before we left we were also given madeleines and they were GREAT (everything in this restaurant is great!). Shame that I was only able to take one bite out of. Definitely will come back here if I ever visit Paris, amazing food, amazing service, everything was just AMAZING!
