ITALY: Al Giardinetto da Severino, Venice

We finally arrived in Venice and it was super late (not really super, maybe just 6PM..but I eat at grandma time!) so we asked the concierge at our hotel to recommend a place and they suggested Al Giardinetto da Severino which was literally down the road.

We stepped inside and was greeted super warmly (loving the welcome already) and was shown a table outside which was GORGEOUS!!

I was super sick (Damn you COLD!!) and was on medication I skipped the red wine and just had still water (boring, I know right!). We got the scallops since it sounded super amazing on the menu. Now, this was the point where everything went downhill. The scallops tasted like they were frozen and wasn’t even warm at all.

Mr D’s Cabonara craze started and guess what he ordered? Cabonara! He was super duper disappointed. It was bland and very dry.

I ordered the squid ink tagliolini in lobster sauce and I was also disappointed. I thought it was just me but Mr D assured me that it wasn’t great and it was too bland and super oily.

Our mains and entrees were so disappointing that I decided that it wasn’t worth having dessert (WHAT??!! No Dessert??). Also, if you’re eating in Italy, you need to remember to pay for service tax which may vary from 1 – 2.50€ per person (YEP! Per person!). The service wasn’t great, we stopped getting attention as soon as we ordered, the food was way below average but the setting was beautiful. If you do stop by in Venice, try and avoid this place.
