The burger scene in Melbourne has popped up like wild fire and there’s a new bad boy in town that’s been open for quite some time and is serving asian fusion burgers. Welcome to The Burger Block in Kew. Located on the main road, I was quite worried about the parking. Do not fear, there’s plenty of street parking so don’t panic.
NeNe Chicken, Maribyrnong (Highpoint Shopping Centre)
Regular Original (5pc) – $10.95
Mrs Creative had a trial for a job and suggested NeNe chicken for some fried fingerlickin’ chicken for dinner. NeNe chicken is located in the new food court on Level 1 at Highpoint and has been opened for quite a while now. It was a touch busy and we were baffled with the choice. We decided to get the regular original pieces because hey, who could beat original anything. It came with complimentary coleslaw and radish.
Toyko Teppanyaki Blogger’s Event, South Yarra
On the busy streets of Chapel Street in South Yarra lies a 30 year old Japanese restaurant, Tokyo Teppanyaki, which looks oh so calm on the outside but inside, there was a tinkering for partayyy. When you step inside Tokyo Teppanyaki, you feel a calmness sweep over you with a Japanese decor that makes you forget that you’re in Melbourne.
Chalawan Launch, Collingwood
Chalawan is the latest baby on the block which has been opened for a few weeks and serves modern Thai cuisine in a rocking venue. When you step inside, the decor was fantabulous with great artwork a plentiful. At the entrance of the venue were seating for dinners and there was a bar towards the back.
NSW: Pho An, Bankstown
Pho topped with rare beef – $15
We were meeting a customer near Bankstown and the lovely customer decided to take us out for lunch. Since we were short on time, she took us to the legendary Pho An where people in the US asks the local to take them here so my expectations were quite high now. We walked in and it was super busy but there were a few tables free and we snagged one to ourselves. I got the medium pho topped with rare beef. Now, the service was so efficient that within 5 minutes, our food came out all steamy and ready to be eaten.
NSW: Circa Espresso, Parramatta
I’m not a huge fan of hotel breakfasts and I like to explore different cafes when I’m out of Melbourne. Since my hotel was in Parramatta, I found a neat cafe just 2 minutes walk in a shipping container which everyone seems to be raving about – Circa Espresso. It was quite busy at 8AM but I guess people were dropping by to get caffeinated like I was. It was very cosy inside and I the staff made sure I was looked after.
NSW: Courtney’s Brasserie, Parramatta
I was up in Sydney for workies and I was in charge of finding a place for dinner and since we were already in Parramatta, I decided to check out Courtney’s Brasserie for some modern Australian dishes. I made a booking for 3 and we made our way there.
Phi Phi 2, St Albans
It was Peppa Pig and A-Baby’s birthday so we decided to do a joint party and had dinner at Phi Phi 2. Phi Phi (the original one) is a Vietnamese eatery in St Albans and since they were popular, they decided to open a second store which consists of kbbq with with a Vietnamese twist to it. Peppa Pig’s mum made a booking at 5:30PM and we arrived and was seated at a big table.
Jack B. Nimble, Maribyrnong
The stooges haven’t seen each other in FOREVER which mean it was time for a catch up so…we chose brunch and decided to do something local – Jack B. Nimble. Lucky for Mr D, he got to come along to our brunch date and see how awesome we were. There’s a few parking spots right in front of the the cafe but if you couldn’t snag a spot, there’s parking around the corner so don’t fret my lovelies.
Dinner by Heston Blumenthal, Melbourne (Crown Casino Complex)
Heston Blumenthal, the name which every food lover recognises and everyone dashed madly around putting their names down in a ballot in order to snag a seat in Fat Duck when they were in Melbourne for 6 months. After that frenzy, Heston opened his first international restaurant – Dinner by Heston at the exact spot which Fat Duck had sat. After harassing Mr D, he finally booked it for our anniversary and I was super duper excited when Saturday rolled around.
