Saravanaa Bhavan, Melbourne CBD

The stooges caught up again and this time we wanted to do vegetarian and since we all loved Indian food, someone recommended Saravanaa Bhavan which is a vegetarian chain from India with many chains opened around the world. I got there first and sat down and waited for the other two stooges to turn up.

When we were all seated, we got ourselves masala tea which was chai tea. So chai means tea and basically I was calling it tea tea. This was very different to what I was use and this was very strong in spice but it was so good. For those who love their teas strong in spice, this is for you.

Masala Tea – $5

I knew that we were in for a spicy night so I got mango lassi and this was so smooth and so mango-y in flavour! LOVED IT!

Mango Lassi – $5

Now, we ordered heaps of things and we were super hungry so I’ll just show you guys a snippet of what we got. Stooge 1 was adamant on getting the paper masala dosa because it was GINORMOUS! It was so thin, papery but it was very oily. Inside was a little potato surprise and I enjoyed that.

Paper Roast Masala Dosa – $13.90

I’m a huge fan of butter chicken so Stooge 1 got me the butter masala which tasted like butter chicken and used Paneer instead of chicken. THIS. WAS. THE. BOMB! I adored this and it was a touch on the heavy side but you don’t need to eat a lot of it. This was oh so spicy and I was so grateful for my lassi.

Butter Masala – $11.90

I was overwhelmed when I walked in and did not know anything on the menu. The good thing was that one of us knew what to get via recommendations and we really enjoyed this place. Hot tip, get a lassi if you can’t handle your spices because it gets oh so spicy here.
