Cafe Blush – Emporium, Melbourne
It was a family day out and whilst shopping, mumsy and daddy bear got a touch thirsty, thirsty for some caffeine. Luckily we were shopping in Emporium and a cute little cafe named Cafe Blush caught our eye. Cafe Blush is a Japanese inspired cafe and mumsy bear thought it was the cutest cafe ever. We were greeted by friendly staff who showed us to our table immediately.
Mumsy bear got a cappuccino and it was totes creamy. However, it wasn’t smooth or strong at all and it wasn’t fragrant either which was disappointing.
Cappuccino – $4
Lune Croissanterie, Melbourne
The legendary Lune Croissanterie. Croissant lovers all know about this cult eatery and all the lining up you have to do in the original Fitzroy store and since I’m not really a morning person, I’ve never done it. So when they opened up a store on Collins Street, it means I can definitely check it out. So when I had a free weekday, I took mumsy and daddy bear into the city to check out Lune.
The Rusty Owl, Mooroolbark
I’ve been meaning to check out the local scene and I’m getting there slowly one cafe at a time and the next one on the list is The Rusty Owl. Conveniently located right opposite to Mooroolbark Station and in front of the cafe has plenty of parking too so getting there wouldn’t be difficult at all. Walking in we were greeted by lovely staff and you can instantly tell that the customers that come in are regulars and definitely locals.
Yokohama Teppanyaki, Glen Waverley
Work wanted to have a dinner to catch up and they picked Yokohama Teppanyaki in Glen Waverley. Parking was quite difficult and the venue was located in Century City Walk. The staff were very polite and the venue gets super busy so luckily we remembered to make a booking. We sat at the table and decided to do the Moriawase Set for $59.50 a head.
Stalactities Restaurant, Melbourne
Stalactites is a Melbourne Institution and most Melburnians would have stopped by here on a late drunken escapade as it’s opened 24 hours. So when Baby A only has a few nights left in Melbourne before he jet sets off back to QLD, all the babies decided to take him to Stalactite.
Shinbashi Yakiniku, Carlton

Piatella Cafe Bar, Glen Waverley
Piatella Cafe Bar sits in the heart of the eating strip in Glen Waverley and that means parking will be a b***h. However, when we got inside, it was very cosy and welcoming. We put our order through the day before since we had a group of 7 and needed to finish lunch in 1.5hours. Unfortunately, our food did not arrive until 1 hour later without any explanation or the staff coming over to let us know which was very disappointing. Let’s move onto the food.
The pumpkin gnocchi was very rich but the flavour was so delish. It was very pumpkin-y but it was a very heavy dish and I didn’t manage to finish half of the dish at all.
Pumpkin Gnocchi – $26
Potato gnocchi cooked in a creamy pumpkin sauce with tender chicken breast, pork-prosciutto, roasted pine nuts and baby spinach
Matsuya Japanese Restaurant, Fairfield
After a day of Archery Attack we decided to refuel somewhere close and of course we wanted something healthy and opted for Matsuya in Fairfield. It was super busy when we got there and luckily for us they managed to squeeze us all in.
Mama Bear, Flemington
Since I haven’t had a date with mumsy bear in a while, I decided that a brunch date was in order. I didn’t want her to travel too far so we decided to head to Mama Bear in Flemington for some mummy daughter time. There’s a few parking spots in the back streets and there is a tram that goes near Mama Bear so transportation isn’t an issue. Mama Bear is located in a warehouse looking venue and the staff are super friendly and efficient. We made a reservation online and immediately got a table.
