Zero 95 has been on my list for a while with everyone suggesting that I should hit it up and they had won best Margherita in the world in 2016. So…I made a booking, snagged a table and got ready for a carby night with the girlies.
The polenta sticks were frigging massive! They were literally blocks of polenta. We got blue cheese and it needed a bit more oomph. The polentas are delish and definitely get these if you enjoy a bit of polenta in your life.
Polenta Sticks – $12
Fried polenta sticks served with blue cheese
The famous margherita came out and it looked a touch burnt and looked a bit sad. Taste wise? Well, I’ve had a few margheritas and unfortunately this one wouldn’t have been on my ‘best margherita’ list.
Margherita – $20
San Marzano tomatoes, mozzarella, basil & parmesan
To be a lil’ healthy we got a pizza with mozzarella, proscuitto, pears and walunts because fruits and nuts are pretty healthy! The pizza was a touch burnt, wasn’t as fluffy and light as it could be and the flavour didn’t tickle our fancy. It had a balsamic glaze but the overall pizza was quite dry.
Filicudi – $25
San Daniele proscuitto, mozzarella, pear, walnuts, gorgonzola & balsamic glaze
We saw another table get seafood pizza and we couldn’t resist getting it (screw you seafood allergy!). We absolutely loved this pizza. We loved the generous toppings and the flavour.
Frutti Di Mare – $28
San Marzano tomatoes, mozzarella, rocket and seasonal seafood
I was so excited to try zero 95 but unfortunately it didn’t wow me like I was expecting. The polenta and the Frutti Di Mare are go to dishes, the other two including the margherita were quite average. Make sure you make a reservation because this place gets busy EVER SINGLE DAY.
