The Fish & Burger Co, Doncaster East

The Fish & Burger Co located on the main road in Doncaster East has been opened for over 3 years serving delish burgers and had to undergo a renovation to expand the space. So you can imagine my excitement when I found out that I’ll be checking this place out. There’s plenty of parking on the side streets so don’t stress there and the place does get pretty busy with the locals. Inside the decor is very Melbournian, brick walls half painted, murals of burgers and neon lights – who doesn’t love those?

It was a hot day and Mr D quenched his thirst with the F&B signature Apple cider. Refreshing and delish!

For those shake lovers out there, you can get a super shake that rotates their flavours every few weeks. We got the Nutella Rocher and boy did it look chocolate-y. Definitely not for the faint heart.

The prawn sliders are an absolute must order. It was quite prawny and that slaw with chili mayo was an explosion of flavour in my mouth. The buns were soft and fluffy and we absolutely loved everything about this!

Chicken lovers, the chicken sliders did not disappoint. Panko crumbed chicken, juicy and moist, the BBQ and ranch sauce with the American cheddar topped it off nicely. I’m not a fan of chicken in sliders / burgers but I loved this!

Who loves Nachos? Now who loves fries in waffle form? If you raised your hands for both questions, you’re in luck because they do Nacho waffle fries. They were crispy and crunchy and that salsa with guac, helloooooo salsa night!

If you like regular fries and chilli cheese, The Fish & Burger Co did not forget about you. The fries were crunchy and seasoned very well and the cheese sauce was mmmmm cheesy.

Another side which blew my mind was the mac & cheese croquette. It had the right amount of cheesiness and I didn’t feel sick or heavy after having them. Little balls of cheese heaven as one might call it.

When the grilled salt and pepper calamari came out, it looked limp and oh so sad. When we took a bite, it definitely needed more seasoning and it was a touch rubbery which was disappointing. Perhaps steer clear of these.

The yakitori wingettes and drumettes came out looking all alluring, waiting for us to pop them inside our mouths. However, when we did, we found them to be super duper dry and stiff whilst an intense flavour of yakitori. Definitely not our cup of tea and definitely wouldn’t recommend this. Sorry chicken wings!

Of course you need to get a side of salad because well, balance, am I right? The quinoa, pumpkin and pomegranate salad was very light and quite refreshing. For those who like a more intense dressing, definitely check out the kale and roasted sesame salad which has sesame dressing.

It’s Gelato time! So many flavours! Which one to pick?

Mr D got the After Dinner Mint and found it to have the right amount of mintiness and I got the lemon sorbet which was quite lemony!

The Fish & Burger Co is a great place for a catch up with friends over burgers, sliders and sides with crazy super shakes and gelato. Unfortunately due to all the sides, we were so full and wasn’t able to squeeze a burger in. However, judging from the awesome sides we had, we will definitely be back to try those burgers.
