After an adventure at Lollipop’s for Mr D’s birthday bash, we were all in need of some lunchies! We were led to Baowie (such a cutie patootie name) and I was super excited because I LOVE xiao long bao!
Even the inside has cool decorations and everything is decorated with bamboo steamers.
I was super thirsty so I got the lychee blended ice and it was really refreshing. I LOVED IT!
Lychee Blended Ice – $4.50
Since my thirst was quench, I waited patiently for the food to come out. First up, pork and veggies pot stickers. These were pretty average.
Pot Stickers – Pork and Veggie Dumplings – $10.80
My absolute favourite dumplings came out, xiao long bao! These were pretty decent and there were so much SOUP inside them. Feels like your tongue is in a swimming pool when you pop them in your mouth. The skin was quite thick though but other then that, I liked them.
Xiao Long Bao – $10.80 (8pc)
Mr D’s brother in law got the Dan Dan Noodles which were sichuan spicy noodles with stewed pork mince veggies and garlic sauce. This was quite bland and I didn’t enjoy it.
Dan Dan Noodles – $11.80
Next were the steamed dumplings with chicken and prawn and these weren’t that good. The skin was really tough and the meat wasn’t a big enough portion compared to the dumpling skin.
Steamed Chicken & Prawn Dumplings – $11.80 (10pc)
Mr D got the veggie and pork wonton tossed with peanut butter, red chili oil and spices. When it came it, the wontons were literally swimming in a chilli oil soup. There was no peanut butter taste at all. This was very disappointing.
Veggie & Pork Wonton with Peanut Butter, Red Chili Oil – $10.50 (8pc)
Even though I was super duper full, Mr D got me the steamy creamy custard bun because I ABSOLUTELY ADORE CUSTARD! This was really GINORMOUS and were pretty YUMMILICIOUS! No regrets for this bun at all!
Steamy Creamy Custard Bun – $2.50
It had a cute name but the food wasn’t that great. The staff were friendly enough and there’s no cutlery, napkins or even sauces on the table for you. You ALWAYS had to ask for things, I mean, come on guys, leave some vinegar and soy sauce at each table so we can dip to our heart’s content. If you’re in need of dumplings, don’t drop by here and find somewhere else to go.
