A spur of the moment decision to go to Kimchi Hut for some Korean food in Glen Waverly (there isn’t a lot of Korean restaurants around here which is a bit disappointing).
So we made a booking for 8pm and when we got there, our table wasn’t even ready yet (not happy at all). 5 minutes later, a table cleared up and we were seated. However much I was annoyed initially, it was gone once I was seated as the waiters were very friendly and polite and who can get upset at polite staff???
With great efficiency, the staff brought us tea and menus and once we ordered our dinner, the sides came out! YUMMY!!! Kimchi and fish cakes! Continuous refills! Love it!!
I went for my all favourite Japchae and I was not disappointed. It came out with more variety then other korean restaurants which is a huge tick and it was really yummy, although it was a touch oily but hey, I would totally order it again.
Next up was Beef Spare Ribs and that was not what I had hoped for. There was so many veggies under the actual spare ribs that I thought ‘wow so much food’. Much to my dismay, there was only 5-6 pieces. Yes it was tender. Yes it was the good cut. No it didn’t do it for me. I found it to be a bit flavourless and bland.
Finally the Ham and Noodle soup came out and of course in it was Sausages, spam, veggies and instant noodles. Although we expected it to come out like this, I don’t think it was spicy enough (and I don’t even eat spicy food!!).
Overall, the staff was great, the places is busy and bustling with life and the food would tempt me to come back. Definitely come in for the Japchae and you will not be disappointed.
