Il Dolce Freddo is located on the busy street of Lygon street and has been around FOREVER! I’ve been here a few times back in the day when I was at uni (feels like forever ago) and it has recently changed management. So that means new flavours and a new look.
Che Vietnamese Desserts, Melbourne
Having grown up in a Vietnamese family, I am very familiar with the words che, the vietnamese desserts that can be served hot or cold, vibrant and full of flavour. So having heard that Che Desserts have opened up late into the night, I had to drag one of the triplet babies along to check it out. Stepping inside, the decor was bright and vibrant and just makes you smile. On the walls are different parts of Vietnam with people on motorbikes and of course, its quite instagram worthy.
MALAYSIA: Sumptuous Desserts, Mid Valley City (KL)
I met up with my baby cousin from Vietnam since he was working in KL and we went on a foodie adventure. I told him that I absolutely adored durian so he took me to a little dessert stall in Mid Valley Megamall since we were in a ‘no leaving the megamall phase’ called sumptuous desserts.
Satu Produk Durian, Melbourne
So I walked past this place in Chinatown on an outing and decided to make a date with a friend to come here since we both LOVE durian (KING OF THE FRUITS!! YEAAAH). We got here late on a Wednesday night and it wasn’t particularly busy. We found a table and looked through the menu. I got myself a durian smoothie (such a sucker for it, seriously) and my friend got the durian mille crepe. I found the smoothie to be very disappointing, it tasted literally like milk with a teeny tiny hint of durian. Where was the durian flavour? Where was the amazing exotic fruit? Dun dun dunnnn….disappointment was what I got. My friend’s Durian Mille Crepe was actually pretty good. You could taste the durian.
Song Huong, St Albans
St Albans is surrounded by numerous vietnamese eateries and we decided to have dinner at Song Huong. It’s always busy and there’s two sections. As we entered, we were seated very quickly and were given menus. I, of course got my stir crispy combination noodle and I couldn’t be happier. It was such a huge portion and boy was it crispy. The sauce was amazing and there was so many things on it ranging from seafood to chicken!! This is the third place in St Albans where I get my combination noodles and this is the best one yet.
