What do you do when you’re in Adelaide for work and hear that the first Hello Kitty Cafe in Australia is in Adelaide? Go to the Hello Kitty Cafe alone is what you do! This cafe is located in Chinatown (Yep, I ended up in Chinatown…) and it closes really late. When I turned up, the surrounding shops were closed except for Gong Cha and Hello Kitty. I walked in and it wasn’t as busy as I thought it would be though.
Koko Black, Doncaster (Westfield Doncaster Shopping Centre)
While shopping casually in Westfield I was getting grumpy since I didn’t have any sugar in me, sooooo Mr suggested KOKO BLACK!! I’m more of a sweets person and I know koko black chocolates are a bit more on the darker side but hey, I’m not going to refuse CHOCOLATE!!
We entered the chocolate hub and was greeted by friendly staff and chose to sit in the corner with the cushy chairs (not going to be a sucker and sit on them hard chairs yo!). I decided to get the classic belgian hot chocolate. There were so many different hot chocolate flavours and since I was in a boring mood, I chose the classic one. To be honest, it was okay. Not super sweet, not that thick but it wasn’t bad either.
Dex2rose Nitrogen Gelato, Melbourne
Dex2rose is the new gelaterie in the CBD, opened for 7 months now and these bad boys are using Nitrogen to make their ice creams and gelato. I was invited by Dex2rose for a tasting menu and all opinions expressed are my own.
Dex2rose is located in an alley way and there is a sign pointing to the location (LOVE SIGNAGES!).

Jinda Thai Restaurant, Abbotsford
Catch up with the girlies and this time we decided on Jinda Thai since one of the girls wanted to give it a go. We had to book it one week in advance on for a Wednesday night at 7PM. I turned up and it was of course raining (gees, thanks winter Melbourne) and Miss Panda and I rushed in while waiting for Miss Train (a story from Malaysia!).
ChillBro Paletas, Melbourne (Melbourne Central)
I told Mr D I’ll come here with him but I was already in the city with my uni gang and decided to go in ninja mode and hopefully Mr D won’t know (I hope you’re not reading this hohoho). We stood awkwardly at the front of the shop and tried to look at the menu from afar (yeah, we’re cool like that) and was like Chill Bro to each other.
D.O.C Pizza & Mozzarella Bar, Carlton
I convinced my friend Ms 3G to have dinner at DOC so I can pop my DOC cherry. Since there’s no booking for tables under 7, we decided to do a walk in at 6PM on a cold wintery Wednesday Night. I got there a tad late due to the yucky parking but Ms 3G got there at 6PM and she said it wasn’t super full at all. I rushed in to get away from the cold, I was hit in the face with warmth and Italian wait staff (felt like I was in Italy….kinda!). As we were deciding what to get from the menu, all I could smell was the pizza base, cheese and every italian goodness. GOD I was soooo HUNGRY!!!
The Menu
The European, Melbourne
I made a booking here over the phone for a table of 8 for a Saturday night at 7:30pm. Since there were road works, everyone turned up late, luckily the restaurant was understanding since literally almost all their reservations were stuck in traffic. Anywho, it’s a really cute place and people will generally miss the front door but since I’ve been hanging to come here, I knew exactly where it was yo!
Little Rogue, Melbourne
It was date day and Mr D took me to a little hidden cafe in Melbourne CBD (he knows I love those hidden places) and it looked like it was literally in someone’s teeny house. We stepped in and the decor was amazingly adorable with little pot plants everywhere. Be warned though, there is very limited seating (in other words real cosy). We were lucky enough to found a table and ordered our coffees! My latte was pretty good, not amazing but still very decent. Look how cute the swan is though (YAY!!).
Latte
Satu Produk Durian, Melbourne
So I walked past this place in Chinatown on an outing and decided to make a date with a friend to come here since we both LOVE durian (KING OF THE FRUITS!! YEAAAH). We got here late on a Wednesday night and it wasn’t particularly busy. We found a table and looked through the menu. I got myself a durian smoothie (such a sucker for it, seriously) and my friend got the durian mille crepe. I found the smoothie to be very disappointing, it tasted literally like milk with a teeny tiny hint of durian. Where was the durian flavour? Where was the amazing exotic fruit? Dun dun dunnnn….disappointment was what I got. My friend’s Durian Mille Crepe was actually pretty good. You could taste the durian.
NSW: Guylian Belgian Chocolate Café, Darling Harbour (Sydney)
I decided to catch up with a friend for coffee (it was hot chocolate but I wanted to sound sophisticated) at Guylian Darling Harbour since I was up in Sydney for work. We met at the cafe (totally a miscommunication where we were suppose to walk there together….oopsie daisies) and it was still busy even though it was almost 10pm on a Wednesday night (Party animals woot woot!). As I waited patiently, trying not to look like a loner being stood up, I checked out the menu before my friend turned up.
