Phat Milk, Travancore

What to do when you’ve got a free day? Brunch of course! Not wanting to go too far we headed to Phat Milk with the girlies for our brunch date. It was a cold and windy day in Melbourne and we quickly rushed into Phat Milk. There were a few tables at the front but there were plenty more at the back. We sat down, relaxed, and flicked through the menu. The staff was so patient while we decided what to get.

A matcha latte to warm us up. It was smooth, it was creamy and it was strong in matcha – just the way we like it.

Matcha Latte – $4.50

The calmer sutra chai latte looked great when it came out. However, it wasn’t hot and more lukewarm which was a shame. The chai wasn’t strong enough in flavour which was quite disappointing.

Calmer Sutra Chai Latte – $5

The baked eggs with sujuks was very strong and rich in flavour, perfect for a cold and windy day. The hash brown with 8h slow cooked brisket was frigging AMAZEBALLS! Everything about it was perfect, from the poached eggs to the brisket, to frigging everything.

Baked Eggs with Sujuks – $22
Roasted capsicum, chickpeas, topped with roquette sumac salad & toasted sourdough
Hash brown with 8h Slow Cooked Brisket – $22
Poached eggs & sriracha hollandaise

To finish off our brunch date we got the french toast to share. Unfortunately this didn’t tickle our fancy. It was quite dry which was a shame.

French Toast with Seasonal Fruits – $22
Maple oat crumb, coffee salted caramel and ice cream

Phat Milk is a very cute cafe and their hash brown and beef brisket was the BOMB! Unfortunately the french toast and the chai latte were quite disappointing. If we’re in the area we’d definitely check out the rest of the menu.
