After a day of Archery Attack we decided to refuel somewhere close and of course we wanted something healthy and opted for Matsuya in Fairfield. It was super busy when we got there and luckily for us they managed to squeeze us all in.
The gyozas were so fat and plump and GINORMOUS! It was juicy, it was succulent and the flavour was oh so delish!
Gyoza – $10.80
The potato croquette was very, well, potato-y.
Croquette – $8.80
Beef heads, the beef tataki is the way to go. Fresh, delish and so flavoursome, we would definitely get it again. Oh, be sure to mix the egg in.
Beef Tataki – $10.80
The octopus balls were a touch too mushy and needed a touch more flavour.
Takoyaki – $10.50
Now, for those who loves fried pork or tonkatsu, it’s the BOMB here! It was crunchy but still very succulent and when you dip it in the sauce, it was FANTABULOUS!
Tonkatsu – $22.50
On the specials menu there was a green tea soba salad with tempura and this was oh so delish and refreshing. It’s a shame that this dish isn’t part of their usual menu because we absolutely loved this dish.
Eel nigiri anyone? Seared eel to be specific. This was again awesome sauce! The eel was bursting with flavour and it was perfect rice to eel ratio. LOVED IT! It is quite on the exy side but we really enjoyed it.
Unagi Sushi – $17.80
Finally, the sushi boat we were waiting for. A mixture of sashimi, nigiri and sushi and it was all so fresh and the flavour was oh so delish. LOVE IT!
Sushi House Special (for 2) – $55.80
Matsuya is a great place for great tonkatsu and fresh sushi and sashimi. If I’m in the area I will definitely be back.
