Since I haven’t had a date with mumsy bear in a while, I decided that a brunch date was in order. I didn’t want her to travel too far so we decided to head to Mama Bear in Flemington for some mummy daughter time. There’s a few parking spots in the back streets and there is a tram that goes near Mama Bear so transportation isn’t an issue. Mama Bear is located in a warehouse looking venue and the staff are super friendly and efficient. We made a reservation online and immediately got a table.
The coffee here was quite average and nothing special in particular. It needed more oomph and all I could taste was milkiness rather than the coffee hit itself.
Latte – $4
Mumsy bear got the veggie bowl (courtesy of the table next to us) and she had hit the jackpot. It was full of flavour, the sweet potato hummus was just TOTES AMAZEBALLS and the broccolini and cauliflower. Mumsy bear NEVER eats cheese but when she had every elements in the bowl including feta, she was in veggie heaven.
Veggie Bowl – $18.50
Quinoa, kale, cauliflower, broccolini, avo, sweet potato hummus, feta & poached eggs
I got the brisket burger and that beef brisket literally melts in your mouth. The flavour in that brisket was BAM – IN YO FACE good! However, the overall burger itself was quite dry and needed more oomph, more flavour. The chippies needed more seasoning and weren’t crunchy at all which was a shame.
Brisket Burger – $20
Oven roasted beef brisket, coleslaw, fried egg, cheese, pickles & chips
Mama Bear does get busy on the weekends and they have online booking so make sure you book before you turn up so you don’t have to wait. It’s kid friendly, it’s dog friendly and basically everything friendly. The veggie bowl is to die for and I will definitely come back just for that bowl.
