St. LuJa, St Kilda

Dimmi sometimes has amazing offers where some restaurants have 50% off the food menu and that’s such a great value if you want to try different restaurants. Since we were in St Kilda, we checked out St LuJa before we headed to our show. It’s a very cosy place which is a bar / restaurant and serves up a mean cocktail (well mocktails for us because it was a school night). The staff are super duper friendly and we were plonked right in front of the fireplace (talk about romance guys!). We did not waste any time at all and went on an ordering frenzy. The mac & cheese croquettes were a delight and exploded cheesy goodness in my mouth. I could have literally had 10 of these bad boys.

Mac & Cheese Croquettes – $12

The loaded chunky chips topped with mozzarella cheese, tomato salsa and chipotle aioli and it looked oh so appealing. Unfortunately the chippies were very soft and needed a touch more seasoning.

Loaded Chunky Chips – $10
with mozzarella cheese, tomato salsa, chipotle aioli & jalapenos

Greens are always required at dinners and the grilled broccolini was awesome sauce. Had a nice crunch with the fresh lemon, perfect.

Grilled Broccolini – $8
with fresh lemon & toasted almondsĀ

The spicy buffalo wings weren’t overly spicy (trust me, I can’t handle my spiciness at all) but they were dry which was a shame.

Spicy Buffalo Chicken Wings – $11
with blue cheese sauce & celery sticks

The 12 hours slow cooked maple beef brisket was not really tender at all which was disappointing. The mash though, definitely on point.

12 Hours Slow Cooked Maple Beef Brisket – $27
with charred asparagus & chipotle mash & jus

Chocolate lovers will definitely love the warm chocolate brownie served with ice cream. It was chocolaty, it was rich, it was oh my gosh delish! Definitely get this and you won’t regret it.

Warm Chocolate Brownie – $13
served with vanilla ice cream

The honey panna cotta was unfortunately disappointing. It was quite solid and we couldn’t really taste the honey flavour either.

Honey Panna Cotta – $13
with caramelized oatmeal & berries

St LuJa is a cosy bar / restaurant that serves awesome sauce cocktails which you definitely need to check out. The food however, the croquette and the brownie was the bomb. Other then that, I wouldn’t be back that quick for the food anytime soon.
