48h Pizza & Gnocchi Bar, Elsternwick

When I hear Italian food I immediately think of pizzas, pastas, comfort food and basically awesome sauce food. So when I heard about 48h Pizza and Gnocchi Bar has opened in Elsternwick, I was oh so pumped to check them out. Located right next to the train station, it was easy to get to with loads of parking along the side streets. Walking into the eatery, you get a sensory overload and there is so many things going on whilst the lovely staff greets you, you just stumble along to your table.

Aussie summer means we need something refreshing. I got an aperol spritz and Miss Chanel got the campari spritz. I absolutely loved it and it was refreshing. Miss Chanel was quite overwhelmed with hers, a bit more on the bitter side and it was quite strong.

Aperol Spritz & Campari Spritz

We couldn’t decide what to get so we opted for the antipasto 48h which consisted of various appetizers. My gosh when the board came out, there were so much on the board that we wondered how we were going to even try the gnocchi?? The breads that came out too were fresh and I just melted at the knees eating them. The board itself? Well, it was cheesy, it was meaty and it was oh so good. Great for when you’re having a bit of wine and just want to snack on something.

Antipasto 48h – $25

I forgotten the first gnocchi we ordered but it was a seafood one with parsley. This was lovely and light and the gnocchi were little balls of fluff that I could pop into my mouth all day long.

For those cheese lovers out there, we got the Trevigiana which was super duper cheesy and it was oh so rich that I would recommend sharing this dish. It was more on the heavy side and the flavour hits you full in the face.

Trevigiana  – $22.50
Gorgonzola cheese, radicchio, vin cotto

Finally, the pizza! We got the di parma and this was AMAZEBALLS! The dough was light, fluffly and crunchy. The toppings were super duper fresh and when you have it all together, angels will sing. Definitely love the pizzas here!

Di Parma – $24
tomato sauce, mozzarella fiordilatte, proscuitto di Parma, air freighted buffalo mozzarella, rocket, Parmigiano (36 months)

What if you can’t finish your awesome sauce pizzas? Do not fear, you can take them home!

Now, I’m a huge fan of pasta and pizza and I’ve had my fair share of mediocre ones and this ladies and gents, is an awesome sauce place to get awesome sauce gnocchis and pizzas. The portions are huge so beware those whose eyes are bigger than your tummy! I will definitely be back 48h Pizza and Gnocchi bar.
