A work trip into regional Victoria meant that we got to check out the local cafe for brunch so everyone was winning! We stopped by The Green Olive, a cafe where it was located in warehouse which is pretty cool. When you step inside, the whole interior is very warehouse-y and casual.
The lovely staff hands you the menu and you just order at the counter. My workmate got the smoked salmon caesar salad. The poached egg was cooked perfectly and was egg-tastic. I found that it was a touch on the bland side but nothing a little bit of salt can fix.
Caesar Salad with Smoked Salmon – $18.50
with cos lettuce, poached egg, bacon, croutons, white Spanish anchovies, Caesar dressing & Parmigiano Reggiano
I got the salmon and avocado pizza and this felt like a healthy meal except the pizza was on I think pita bread. The smoked salmon was divine and the avocado balanced the saltiness of the fetta out. However, the base of the pizza was not cut at all and I found it very difficult to cut the base of the pizza with the knife. Perhaps they could either pre-slice the pizza or provide a sharper knife when they are serving this dish.
Salmon & Avocado Pizza – $16.50
House smoked salmon, avocado, fetta, chives & cress
This is a great place if you need to bring your customer/clients to have a quick coffee, finish up on your work or just drop by for some healthy eats. The food is pretty delish and staff and service was awesome. Will definitely drop by again if I’m in Bendigo.
