Chapel street, the street known for partying, shopping, no where to park and good food. So it’s no surprise when a new Asian Fusion eatery, Sister Of Society popped up on Chapel Street 6 weeks ago. When I stepped inside, I was greeted warmly by the staff and was shown to my table. While checking out the interior, you can not miss the GINORMOUS S.O.S neon signage – perfect spot for all them instagrammable photos yo!
Look how cutie patootie the salt and pepper container with the wooden spoon (ARGH!).
Getting back on track, they’ve got the Home Run which consists of two first base, one second base and one third base. So for the first base, I got the betal leaf with smoked eel, fresh chili, radish, peanut and tamarind tartare. This was AMAZEBALL! So fresh, full of asian flavour and very sizeable eatable bites. If you’ve never had eel before, this is a great dish to try it out. The eel flavour isn’t too strong so you can ease your way into the life of eel.

The second first base dish – the grilled halloumi with salted watermelon, toasted almonds and fresh mint. I could not let an opportunity of grilled halloumi pass. This was oh so AWESOME SAUCE. The watermelon gave the dish a fresh taste and texture, balancing out the saltiness of the halloumi. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this dish!!

I couldn’t decide which second base dish to get and I was recommended by the staff to try the zesty marinated BBQ prawns. These were so tasty, lightly BBQ-ed so it still retains it’s marinade. The chili almond creme, I wasn’t a great fan of it but that didn’t deter me from demolishing the plate at all.

The last base before you get a home run, the third base which means DESSERT is served. There were three desserts to choose from and I was utterly dissapointed that Mr D couldn’t come with me to help me with such a huge life decision. After changing my mind for the millionth time, I decided to get the signature ice cream sandwich which had cookies and cream ice cream with mashed cookie dough served inside a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie sandwich. Does that description not make you drool?? I did not expect how GINORMOUS it would be and I knew that I wouldn’t be able to finish it myself. The cookie and cream ice cream – Lovely! The cookie dough – surprise! The cookie – OH SO HUGE!!!

All the dishes at S.O.S are designed to share so make sure you come on down with your crew / squad / strangers and enjoy the great food this place has to offer. On Saturday nights, they even have a DJ to spin (that’s what they do right?) awesome jam while you fill up your belly. The staff are lovely and very helpful and knows the menu well. Get your sisters or brothers down and join the society!
