I’ve been bugging Mr D to take me to Pellegrini’s Espresso Bar for yonks now and finally (YES, FINALLY!) today was the day. It always caught my eye because it’s an Italian family-owned bar and it’s just the cutest thing when you see it from the outside.
When you enter, you can either sit by the bar (we chose this option) or along the wall. The menu is on the wooden board hung in the middle of the room, unfortunately, it doesn’t display the price (that’s annoying huh).
Mr D and I got an espresso (take us back to Europe!) and I enjoyed it. Mr D didn’t complain either.
While sipping my espresso, I looked over and saw people having a pinkish drink. I leaned over and asked staff what they were. They were watermelon granitas. Mr D saw that I REALLY wanted to try and I got myself one. It was refreshing and very watermelon-y, great for a hot day.
Watermelon Granita
The owner placed a cup in front of me which was basically ice cream with espresso poured over. He made too much for the girls next to me which meant I got to try what they were trying.
Mr D We only planned to make this a quick stop and just have coffees. However, we stayed much longer because the owner and staff were signing (a lot of Elvis songs because he’s a GINORMOUS fan), getting to know the customers and made everyone laugh. I’ll definitely come back for a coffee and try out their food menu in this home-ly atmosphere where all the staff spoke Italian which was a super bonus. Ciao for now!
