Speakeasy Kitchen Bar, South Yarra

I got a chance to eat here because I won a $200 voucher from the urban list (THANKS SO MUCH!!!!) and I decided to take the whole family (it was a family affair). We made a booking at 8pm and when we arrived we were greeted and shown to our table which was in the outdoor bar area (no fuss) and we were given blankets since it was cold (HOW AWESOME!!!). Menus came out and I started picking the entrees.

Our entrees came and my gosh were we excited!! The spiced lamb rolls were absolutely AMAZEBALL. The lamb was cooked to perfection where it was still pink inside and served with tzatziki.

Spiced Lamb Rolls – $12

Next up, the chicken wings with green chili sauce. This dish I felt was a bit average so I wouldn’t suggest getting this unless you’re craving chicken wings!

Chicken Wings – $10

We also got the zucchini and feta fritters with tahini yoghurt. I LOVE CHEESE! I really liked this dish and would totally recommend it if you want to steer away from meat.

Finally, the Arancini with pumpkin and truffle oil came out. THIS. WAS. AWESOMEEE! I would definitely come back for this. This was the best dish the whole night! MUST GET DISH!!! (drooooools)

The long awaited mains came out. I got the squid ink linguine served with prawns. It was tad oily but I liked this the most out of all the mains. SOOOOOO YUMMMMO!

Squid Ink Linguine – $20

Mumsy bear and J-baby got the Pork Spare Ribs with blue cheese dipping sauce. I found the ribs to be way too sweet and wasn’t as tender enough where the meat just falls off the ribs. It was okay but it was HUGE!!! Bigger than my FACE!

Pork Spare Ribs – $20

Daddy bear got the mussels in napoli sauce and to be honest, I wouldn’t recommend this dish. It had no flavour and the sauce made it worse. The charred bread it came with was good….

Mussels – $19

Mr D got the Speakeasy Wagyu Beef Burger served with fries and aioli. Mr D thought the Wagyu Beef was too dry and nothing outstanding….he was pretty disappointed.

Finally it was DESSERT TIME! I LOVE DESSERTS so I’m always hanging for the end of the meal. We decided to share the desserts because we were all so full (almost had to unbutton our pants….almost). The babies got the Chocolate Mousse with coffee cream and caramel and chocolate crumble. I didn’t mind this dish but Mr D and Mumsy bear loved it because they LOVE coffee!

Chocolate Mousse – $12

I was waiting for the Malibu Panna Cotta with mangoes, lychees, lime and pistachio crumble. THIS DESSERT WAS AMAZING! MY FAVOURITE DISH BY FAR THE WHOLE NIGHT (caps-lock for the excitement). It was so fresh, the panna cotta was perfect. I will come back here for dessert if I’m ever on Chapel Street.

Overall, I found the service to be great. The staff were helpful, friendly, patiently and so very happy. The ambiance was really nice. A casual setting and everyone was so chillaxed. The food, some were amazing dishes, others were average but COME FOR THE PANNA COTTA!!! That is all I can say.
