When searching for something light to have for lunch, Japanese cuisines pop into my mind. Mr D decided to check out Shimbashi Soba and Sake Bar in the city for our lunch catch up with the K sisters. They don’t take bookings so we planned to get there as soon as it opens to beat the traffic and boy were we glad that we did that because by 12:30PM, there were people queuing outside.

Wagyu Ya, South Yarra

Saturdays are the days for food hopping and who better to explore the Melbourne food scenes then with the food hopping crew. Miss Pear was the appointed organiser for the night and she was craving for some Japanese char grill, so Wagyu Ya here we come. Wagyu Ya is located on the busy streets of Toorak Road in South Yarra right across the train station. There were heaps of parking around so don’t fret about where to park your motorised vehicle.

Pabu Grill & Sake Menu Launch, Collingwood

Pabu Grill and Sake is a Japanese eatery that has been opened for 4 years and located in the heart of busy Fitzroy. The owner also influences the menu and regularly travels back to Japan for inspiration (dedication right there!). Pabu has released a new menu and I decided to take Miss Stooge 1 along since Miss Stooge 2 is away in Japan and this was the closest thing we’ll get to Japan.

Kuu Cafe, South Melbourne

The girlies in the gang decided to get brunch and chose Kuu Cafe, a Japanese cafe and eatery located in South Melbourne, a Miss Mori choosing. Luckily for me, it was the Easter weekend which means parking in front of the cafe was absolutely free (BOOM!). I was running late and when I arrived, the girlies were there and had a bagged a table. It was really cozy inside and the decor was super duper cute.

Dinner with the gang again and we (when I said we I mean Mr Burberry) felt like Japanese. He chose Hako for a Saturday dinner and of course Melbourne was pouring down raining. We got inside it was actually quite cosy. It felt really modern and fun inside.

QLD: Bishamon Japanese Restaurant, Spring Hill

Work trip again woooo! Upside, I get to try out new places. Downside, I have to eat alone. So once again I made my way around the area and found a cute little Japanese restaurant two minutes away from my hotel in Spring Hill.  I was hungry, I was tired and there was room for me.

Stepped in and was welcomed by the hostess and was seated next to the window.  I ordered the Kozaemon Kimoto Sake while I looked over the menu and it was refreshing, fruity and dry.  I decided to get all entree seeing as my belly can’t handle a lot of food.
