Mr Burberry, of course, was still celebrating his 30th months after he actually turned 30 but we weren’t really complaining. He picked Imbue in Maribrynong since it was local for the girlies and I would be at the parentals that night. It does get quite busy so make sure you make a booking (we missed out last time). There are few parking spots in the carpark but they do get full real quick so your best bet is to park in Aldi’s carpark. Now back to the venue, it’s dim, it’s comfy and it looks a touch fancy. The staff are really friendly and treats every customer that walks in like they’re a long time friend.

Scoopy Milk Bar is the first Bingsu specialty dessert bar located in HWKR Food court. Its bright store with cute stickers and delicious mountainous shaved ice, you are definitely in for a treat. Various flavours AND happy staff, make sure you nab a table because you’re going to need to sit down to eat these bad boys.

Matcha lovers, the matcha bonsai is for you. Bitterness from the matcha, sweetness from the condensed milk and fluffiness from the whipped cream, it was fantabulous!

Matcha Bonsai – $13 (regular)
Matcha green tea flavoured bingsu with sweet red bean mochi, lychee popping pearls, chocolate soil, topped with house-made whipped cream, toasted almond flakes served with condensed milk.

Darling Street Espresso, Moonee Ponds

Located next to a school sits a little cafe on the corner called Darling St Espresso. There’s ample of parking so you shouldn’t fret if you drop by here. Outside it looks quite ordinary but inside it’s real cosy with friendly staff. Walking in we could smell freshly made coffee and it smells so damn good.

What to do when you’ve got a free day? Brunch of course! Not wanting to go too far we headed to Phat Milk with the girlies for our brunch date. It was a cold and windy day in Melbourne and we quickly rushed into Phat Milk. There were a few tables at the front but there were plenty more at the back. We sat down, relaxed, and flicked through the menu. The staff was so patient while we decided what to get.

Little Byrd, Ascot Vale

On the busy street of Union Road in Ascot Vale sits a humble cafe with a relaxed atmosphere and interior design. Little Byrd doesn’t have a massive sign out front but you know which one it is with locals sitting outside and inside laughing with their cup of coffe/tea/juice/chocolate. I thought it’ll be a great daddy daughter day and showed daddy bear the ropes of a Melbourne brunch.

Daddy bear got the long macchiato and holy smokes it was good. It was strong, it was full bodied AND it definitely had a huge punch to it and I can guarantee you that it’ll knock you straight into next week.

Cafes and brunches are a big part of Melbourne culture and there’s never a shortage of cafes to visit. One popped up four months ago in Fitzroy just off the busy streets of Brunswick Street. A very modest Cafe Louis on Moor street is very inviting and when you step inside, it’s so spacious that you’ll forget the hustle and bustle of the busy streets. Voted as one of the most beautiful cafes in Melbourne, you will definitely understand when you stepped inside, exactly how both Ms Curly Fries and I found out.

Yokohama Teppanyaki, Glen Waverley

Work wanted to have a dinner to catch up and they picked Yokohama Teppanyaki in Glen Waverley. Parking was quite difficult and the venue was located in Century City Walk. The staff were very polite and the venue gets super busy so luckily we remembered to make a booking. We sat at the table and decided to do the Moriawase Set for $59.50 a head.

Since I haven’t had a date with mumsy bear in a while, I decided that a brunch date was in order. I didn’t want her to travel too far so we decided to head to Mama Bear in Flemington for some mummy daughter time. There’s a few parking spots in the back streets and there is a tram that goes near Mama Bear so transportation isn’t an issue. Mama Bear is located in a warehouse looking venue and the staff are super friendly and efficient. We made a reservation online and immediately got a table.

When you’re meeting up with a group and there’s someone that’s vegan, we thought we would cater to them and check out a vegan restaurant so they can pick whatever they want to eat. On Nicholson street sits a quiet vegan eatery called Billy and Lucy. Billy and Lucy, on the outside it looks old and humble but inside, it’s cosy with fireplaces and very welcoming. The staff are so friendly and so accommodating that you feel like you’re at home.
