Hakata Gensuke, Westfield Doncaster, Doncaster

Hakata Gensuke is a well established and known throughout Melbourne as one of the yummiest ramen and it’s so popular that there are many chains opened around Melbourne. We visited the one in Doncaster’s food court and there wasn’t a huge line so we went up and ordered our ramens. On the side of the counter, there was a sign and it was a special deal where you get a meal for two for $33! So we went ahead and got that!

Gukbab, Melbourne

Korean food is always our comfort food and so when the girlies wanted to check out Gukbab. Located on Little Lonsdale St, there are heaps of Korean restaurants around. Walking in, the staff were super friendly and showed us to our table and we started our Korean feast. Also, make sure you make a booking because it gets super busy.

Paik’s BBQ, Melbourne

Located on Little Lonsdale Street sits a Korean BBQ in a stand-alone brick building, Paik’s BBQ. It’s much bigger than it looks and it gets super busy, so make sure you have a reservation before you turn up. Oh, I wouldn’t wear my best clothes either because all the smokiness will get into your clothes. As we stepped in the staff greeted up with all smiles and enthusiasm and was shown to our table. Looking over the menu, we started our meaty night!

Drumplings, Melbourne

I have heard so many good things about this cheeseburger dumplings at drumplings so of course I had to go and try it. We visited on a Tuesday at 5pm (yep, we’re like old grannies that loves to eat early) and there’s already quite a few tables that were reserved. Luckily for us, we were there early so we snagged a table. The staff were friendly and welcoming once walking in and boy was it hot in there. It reminded us of being on a tropical island and the interior just makes me feel oh so happy.

Tipico, Windsor

There’s a new Italian joint in Windsor that’s just opened up and inside it’s so chic with very friendly staff. There’s plenty of parking around and if there’s one door but everyone seems to walk past and miss it. Anywho, back to Tipico, we were seated and then our little eyes scanned the menu began our comfort eating.

Block 7 Dumplings, Ringwood – Eastland Shopping Centre

Whenever I have Xiao Long Bao cravings I always head to Forest Hill. However, I found out that there’s a new dumpling place in Eastland that also serves XLB AND it’s closer to home. So I convinced (by convinced I kinda made him) Mr D to take me on a dumpling date. It’s located near the cinemas and right opposite to Gami and there were plenty of seats (I guess it’s because we went in midday in the middle of the week). The ordering process is so easy, there’s a clipboard on your table, you fill in what you want and BAM hand it over to the staff and they’ll bring the food out to you. So no required interaction at all.

Hofbräuhaus, Melbourne

Oktoberfest is in full swing in Munich right now and Melbourne isn’t too far behind with various German eateries and German beers available. One of the places you could go to is Hofbrauhaus located in Market Lane and yes, it’s in an alleyway and yes, you’re super safe. So I’ve been to the bar area quite a few times and did not realise that there was a restaurant located right next door! There’s a hostess out in front and make sure you have a reservation because it does get super duper busy. All the staff were dressed in theme and at 7PM on a Saturday night, the live band comes out to play.

St. LuJa, St Kilda

Dimmi sometimes has amazing offers where some restaurants have 50% off the food menu and that’s such a great value if you want to try different restaurants. Since we were in St Kilda, we checked out St LuJa before we headed to our show. It’s a very cosy place which is a bar / restaurant and serves up a mean cocktail (well mocktails for us because it was a school night). The staff are super duper friendly and we were plonked right in front of the fireplace (talk about romance guys!). We did not waste any time at all and went on an ordering frenzy.

Natural History Bar & Grill, Melbourne

If you love museums and steaks, the have I got a place for you. Natural History Bar & Grill, located on Collins Street serves heaps of dishes from the grill with an extensive and impressive bar. However, be ready for stuffed animals looking at you through the glass windows because yep, it’s like you’re at the Natural History Museum (well I’d assume so since I haven’t been yet but watching movies I’d say that’s pretty spot on!). Anywho, the atmosphere is very casual with very friendly staff so no need for any fancy pants here!

Rock Sugar, South Yarra

On Malvern Road in South Yarra sits a new Thai restaurant that pumps 90s R&B and pop music with neon lights on the inside and outside of the restaurant. Inside is a casual setting which reminds me of Thailand (it’s the neon lights I say!) and the staff are so welcoming. Plenty of seats, plenty of drinkies and of course plenty of food!
