Mr D had some places bookmarked for my birthday food adventure and the first stop was lunch at Belleville (which I’ve heard good things about). Located in an alley in Chinatown, you can see the signage outside which was super duper bright.
Pavlov’s Duck Launch, Fitzroy
Pavlov’s Duck is a Sri Lankan influenced brunch/cafe located at the other end of Smith Street where it’s a bit more quieter. Don’t let this fool you though, when you step into the cafe, the music was pumping and you feel welcomed instantly.
Gold Leaf, Sunshine
Since baby A was back in town for the holidays, we had a fam bam yum cha lunch at Gold Leaf but do make sure to book since it gets super duper busy as a bee!
Micawber Tavern, Belgrave
After spending the morning at tree top adventures, we decided to reward/refuel ourselves at a pub close by – Micawber Tavern. It’s a cute little pub and it’s a very casual scene once you enter.
Din Tai Fung
Baby A wanted to do an outing and take mumsy and daddy bear for some dumplings and pop their ‘xiao long bao’ cherry, so where to take them then Din Tai Fung in the Emporium.
Oriental Spoon, Melbourne
It’s almost Christmas time and everyone is trying to get together before the holidays and it was time to catch up with Miss Train and Miss Panda to exchange our KK presents (YAYERS!). Miss Train booked us in for Oriental Spoon (the first one) across from Melbourne Central since we were all taking the train home.
Mama’s Buoi, Melbourne (Melbourne GPO)
Wondering around the city for dinnner with Mr 3 cents and Miss Curly Fries we eventually made it to Mama’s Buoi with Miss Curly Fries recommendation.
Station Hotel, Footscray
I was in charge of work lunchies and we all (well me actually) decided to go to Station Hotel for some good ol’ steaks since it was the local joint. We made a booking (make sure you do too because it get super duper busy) and asked for the mains to be done by the time we got there because we were a bit strapped on time. We walked in and oh dear lord it was a full house. The food came out immediately and they got all the orders except for 1 correct which is quite impressive nonetheless.
Chin Chin, Melbourne
Mr Italian Stallion suggested a catch up at Chin Chin and who am I to refuse him a delish meal. We turned up ASAP since we knew you’d have to wait a gazillion years before getting a table since Chin Chin only does walk in. Luckily, we got a table within 10 minutes (SCORE!).
Big Mouth, St Kilda
The last of my zomato voucher and it was for Big Mouth. I decided to take my friend since we were due for a catch up. I made reservations just in case but it was a Monday night and it wasn’t really busy at all. We were ushered upstairs because it was way cooler (according to the downstairs staff) and it was totes cooler. Great decor, great vibe and lots of cushions for your tooshie.
