Rustica – Melbourne Central, Melbourne

Rustica has always been on my list but I’ve never managed to make it to Hawthorn or Fitzroy, BUT it has now opened in Melbourne Central so, of course we made our way there. Yep, it was smack bang in the shopping centre and there was an indoor and an ‘outside’ area. We plopped our butts in the ‘outside’ area and it was set up so well that we forgot that we were in a shopping centre.

The lobster egg benedict sounded so good on the menu and when it came out, it looked totes amazeballs! The lobster was perfectly cooked, the poached eggs was yolk-ilicious and that milk bun tied everything together. This was definitely a must get if you drop by Rustica.

Lobster Egg Benedict – $22.50
Chive, butter poached lobster, toasted milk bun, green salad, kale hollandaise, poached eggs

Stooge 1 got the spring greens which had a fried egg, snap peas, broccolini and crispy kale. This was seriously a healthy dish but it wasn’t anything extraordinary and for $19.50, we thought it wasn’t worth it.

Spring Greens – $19.50
Sugar snap peas, mustard greens, broccolini, crispy kale, ginger, chilli, sourdough & fried egg

Stooge 2 got the spring lamb salad where the lamb shoulder was slow cooked and served with cauliflower, carrot, kale with zaatar yoghurt. The lamb was not too lamb-y, it was cooked so well and the salad was fresh coupled with yoghurt, it was AWESOME SAUCE.

Spring Lamb Salad – $22
Slow cooked lamb shoulder, lentils, shaved cauliflower, pickled carrot, kale, spinach, zaatar yoghurt & toasted miche loaf

Rustica at Melbourne Central is at a convenient location and damn, that lobster egg benedict was absolutely to die for. We will definitely be back Rustica!
