A wander around Richmond and we stumbled upon Czeg’s cafe which we promptly walked in to start our brunching date. It was a full house and you know the coffee is good when everyone in the cafe isn’t eating anything but are all holding a cup of coffee. We sat down by the window and you order at the register so take off your coats, relax and start your feasting.
To start off the day Mr D got a latte and I got the soy latte. Boy oh boy were these amazing! It was so smooth, so full bodied and gives you a good kick to begin your day.
Latte – $4.50, Soy Latte – $5
Mr D got the Eggs royale and the poached eggs were perfect with a beautiful yolk oozing out. It was very rich due to the hollandaise and the salmon and spinach made him feel a touch healthier.
Eggs Royale – $21
Poached eggs served on house made pumpkin bread, cold smoked salmon & spinach topped with hollandaise
I got the forest mushrooms and was this spectacular. It was a beautiful spread and the mushrooms coupled with the tomato chutney, DELISH! I was being naughty and had the fetta too! It was very savoury so you won’t even miss not having any meat at all.
Forest Mushrooms – $23
Sauteed in spice butter served on scrambled eggs, tomato chutney, fetta & house sourdough
Czeg’s cafe is a gem of a place that serves great coffee and good food where the staff does it all with a smile on their faces. I would definitely come back if I’m visiting Richmond because rain, hail or shine, there’s always time for good food and coffee.
