Two Fat Monk, Fairfield

Braving the 42 degrees Melbourne weather we made our way to Two Fat Monks for a little brunch date. Two Fat Monks is conveniently located opposite Fairfield station with quite a few parking. As you enter the cafe, boy oh boy will you be greeted by friendly staff. We were shown to our table and boy were we hungry.

Because it was happy hour somewhere in the world, Mr D got the strawberry margarita and boy was it super strong, refreshing but it does have a kick.

Strawberry Margarita – $18

I got the Lychee GT and I’m such a huge G&T fan and this was delightful. It was fresh, it was very lychee-y and of course you could definitely taste the gin!

Lychee GT – $17

For starters we got the chorizo croquettes and these were fantabulous. The truffle mayo was awesome but we did struggle to find the chorizo. There were little pieces there but if there was a bit more it would have been nice.

Chorizo Croquettes -$12
Chroizo, potato, mozzarella truffled mayo

Our favourite dish was the pork tacos. These were AMAZEBALL! All the flavours went so well together and Mr D is not a fan of soft shell tacos (gosh you should hear our house when it’s taco nights) and he absolutely LOVED these!! A definite must if you come here to brunch!

Pork Tacos – $15.50
Soft shell tacos, pickled onions, red cabbage, lemon mayo, jalapeno peppers

Mr D got the crispy skin Atlantic salmon and he loved it. Not as much as the tacos (nothing could beat the tacos!) but he loved it nonetheless. The salmon was perfectly cooked and was not oily or dry either. The only complaint, he wished the skin was a touch more crispier.

Crispy Skin Atlantic Salmon – $25
Parsnip puree, greens, pomegranate seeds, caviar

I got the corn fritters with beetroot hummus and boy oh boy was the beetroot hummus was to die for. The corn fritters were a touch on the oily side but it was very corny which is always a plus.

Corn Fritters Mediterranean Style – $19.50
Avocado, beetroot hummus shaved carrot & zucchini, poached egg

To end the brunch I got a soy latte and it was delish. So silky, so smooth and a very strong hint of coffee. Loved it!
