Supper Inn, Melbourne

Mumsy and Daddy Bear wanted to take us out for midnight congee so they took us to their hangout joint Supper Inn. Supper Inn has been around FOREVER and they are known to serve up midnight congee and are open into the wee hours of the morning. When we arrived, the restaurant was 3/4 full and luckily we didn’t need to wait to get a seat. Located in an alley way, it may seem dodgy but it is well known for those who are peckish and do not want maccas or kebabs. We got the menu and of course mumsy and daddy bear got congee.

The congee was well congee. The parents found it to be exactly like how it use to be, average. It was soupy and needed salt and pepper added to it.

We also got the dry combination noodles and this was FABULOUS! Totally loved it. Full of flavour, generous serving and absolutely SMASHING.

Dry Combination Noodles

The prawn dumplings were quite average but it did satisfy our dumpling cravings.

Prawn Dumplings (Har Gow)

We got a serving of pork dumplings and they were quite sad looking. The skin was a bit thick and the filling was quite bland as well. We were quite disappointed with this dish.

Mumsy and daddy bear will always return to Supper Inn for congee and I will definitely return for the combination noodles. The service was great and the food will range depending on what you order. Cheap prices, quick food and great service, definitely what you expect when you go to Chinatown.
