Kyo Teahouse, Melbourne (Emporium)

Going out with the cousins, we decided to have some matcha desserts and good ol’ Miss Train got onto zomato and found Kyo Tea House. It was quite busy on a Thursday night but we managed to bag a table and started our ordering spree.

The matcha soft serve was so creamy and full of matcha flavour. My gosh it was so intense and I LOVED IT!

Matcha Soft Serve – $3.80

The matcha peach nectar was refreshing but had a strong mint flavour to it and I wasn’t a fan of that. It had a stronger peach flavour than matcha.

Matcha Peach Nectar – $8

We also got a scoop of yuzu and strong matcha ice cream and my gosh, the yuzu was AMAZEBALL! Very citrus-y and fruity and oh so light. LOVED IT! The strong matcha was super strong and once I had that, I couldn’t taste the lighter matchas!

2 Scoops – $8

The kyo sweets plate had sponge cake to matcha ice cream and matcha cake. There were a lot of hit and misses but overall it was average. The dense matcha sponge cake was lovely but why was the cheese cake there? Who knows, maybe it got lost and made friends with the matcha cakes and wanted to be included.

Kyo Sweets Plate – $18

Finally, the houji-cha parfait was unique. Houji-cha is a green tea but it gets roasted. There were way too many things in this cup and it was so difficult to eat it. Looked cool but quite impractical. Overall taste, not a huge fan of it.

Houji-cha Parfait -$12

I will definitely be back for the ice cream and everything matcha. The next thing on the list will be the Yuzu matcha fiz. It is a touch small so either take it away or try to eye a table first before you order. The staff were oh so friendly and I can finally satisfy my matcha love!
