Junkyard, St Kilda

If you’ve been to Sardi Cafe in Hawthorn and love it as much as I do, you’ll be super duper excited to know that Sardi has a sister cafe, Junkyard cafe located on Inkerman street in St Kilda. With the same owner, Ash, you can be sure that the quality and service are top notch. It’s hidden away in near a building complex but you can see the sign from afar and thus get super excited while you walk towards it.

Once you step inside (or sit outside in the sunshine), you’re met with a cosy interior and a very builder like atmosphere. There’s a really cool mural on the back wall which says the name loud and proud.

All the staff are also wearing hi-vis clothing so you definitely get the feel that you’re in a junkyard. Gotta be safe when you’re in the junkyard yo!

Mr D needed his hit of caffeine and got a latte. It was so pretty but he found that it wasn’t strong enough.

Latte – $3.50

On the other hand, I got the Dragonfruit smoothie and this was the bomb! So refreshing and so healthy, what more could you ask for on a Sunday morning.

Dragonfruit Smoothie – $9.90
Dragon fruit, mango, orange juice, coconut, rice malt syrup & passionfruit

Mr D got the Junkyard Big Brekky and he was quite happy with the portion size. He found it to be just right and they were quite generous with everyone on the plate. He did need to add a touch of salt for the eggies but other than that, he had no complaint.

Junkyard Big Brekky – $19.50
Eggs your way with bacon, mushies, saganaki, fried potato jack & avocado

I went for something more zen and got the green goodness. Now, this was absolutely AMAZEBALL! Scrambled eggs were cooked to perfection and when you eat it with the kale, it was to die for. The spinach and ricotta mushrooms were so juicy and flavoursome. EVERYTHING WAS AWESOME SAUCE! Totally recommend getting this if you want something lighter but not miss out on the great flavours.

Green Goodness – $17.50
with spinach & ricotta stuffed field mushrooms, asparagus, sauteed kale & lentils, matcha salsa Verde, scrambled eggs

Being the sister café to Sardi, you can expect great things from this café. The Junkyard has attentive and friendly staff and the food, oh my goodness, trust me, get the green goodness and you won’t regret it. If you do, I’ll happily finish it for you.
