The girlies and I have landed in Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, and we were super duper hungry and it was really early. Miss Traveler and her fam bam took us to Toast Box inside of Mid Valley City Mall.
We all bagged a table and the fam bam went to order. They got the toast set which was 9RM and we got the traditional kaya bread, kopi and 2 half boiled eggs. I’ve only ever seen Miss Mousey eat this at work so I was very keen to try it. The Kopi (coffee) was quite strong and did give me a punch. I didn’t have add any sugar either.
Kopi and Teh
Now, the food came out and I thought that there was cheese in the toasts. Boy was I wrong. It was actually a slab of butter (good bye arteries) and kaya (coconut jam spread). Miss Traveler and her fam bam showed us how the Malaysians did breakfast.
Half Boiled Eggs with Kaya and Butter Toasts
1st step: crack two half boiled eggs into your bowl. Every single egg that was cracked was boiled to perfection.
2nd step: Add in soy sauce and pepper to taste
3rd step: Mix everything in until you’re satisfied.
4th and final step: dip your toast and suck it all up!!
It was the most AMAZEBALL thing I’ve had for breakfast. It was buttery, it was protein-y, it was so smooth and succulent. I LOVED EVERYTHING! The kaya gave it a sweetness to it and everything just went so well together. If you’re ever in Malaysia, check out the traditional kaya toast with half boiled eggs because once you’ve gotten a taste of it, you’ll never go back to smashed avo!
